Seems like something they would want to change, can't be that expensive.

none in Iowa either.

Someday a team should make a point. Get a 6 point lead and sit on it the rest of the game.

When I played ball in high school here in illinois....in the state title game. We were tied and the other team missed a shot with about 2 minutes left. We rebounded and held the ball for two minutes and then I made the winning bucket at the buzzer. Kinda cheap...shot lock needed...would suck to be on the other side of that.

Since I ref HS In CA i can chime in here

Boys use a 35-second clock
Girls use a 30-second clock

also - Grisl do NOT have a 10-second backcourt while Boys do so a Girls' team can take 29 seconds to get the ball across halfcourt and still be OK

i witnessed a girls HS BB team that played a press and beat teams by 80 and 90 every game because the other team could not even get passed half court. They won state that year.

I remember back in HS i walked by the girls practice one day and they were practicing the half-court trap. Next game, the score was like 62 to 8. Girls basketball was the worst game to watch.

See this kind of thing in Ohio where there is no shot clock. A team that is obviously outmatched holds the ball for 7 minutes and takes a shot at the buzzer. Without a shot clock, it's a joke.

maybe so - but if i reffed this game i'd go over and french kiss the coach - even if it was guy - for our game would be over in 40-ish minutes and thus we would get out of there MUCH faster

this is like fresno state with boyd grant - pre-shot clock. those guys could milk 10+ minutes in 1 possession EASILY - they were that good at it

No shot clock being used in Ohio games.

And hopefully there wont be...refs and table personnel have hard enough time keeping games well managed to worry about a shot clock.

Usually only outmatched and/or very poor teams use an offensive game strategy that focuses on using alot of clock time.

Ohio has 5 second closely guarded rule...so holding ball is not an effective strategy.

If trailing near end of game, most teams can create turnovers with properly used pressure defense. If that doesnt work, they may foul an opponent like happens in other levels of basketball.

A shot clock would mostly serve coaches and fans wanting to bitch and moan. Rather than looking in the mirror about reasons why they lost a particular game, often coaches and fans blame their teams' losses on judgements made by game officials.

first off Korn, there should be more than 2 classes in Illinois basketball and think everyone would agree on that. A private school with 600 kids should not be playing public schools with 100-150 kids like many of the schools in central IL have once they get to the regionals.
