North Las Vegas Nevada.

A California developer says that he wants to build a 4 Billion Dollar Sports-Theme resort on a plot of the desert eight miles off the Las Vegas Strip.
Matt A. Rose plans for the Ultimate Sports Resort includeing a 26,000 seat arena, a 5,000 seat aqatic center, an air-condionted driveing range and "other" sports related developments. The complex also would have a 150,000 square foot casino, 5,500 hotel rooms and 10 nightclubs.

Rumor has it that he will also install a state of the art sports wagering system that takes a backseat to no one.

.01% chance of this being built. This guy is smoking something. With all the other projects going in town, how is going to get $4 billion to build something far from the tourists?

Disagree. This guy was on the Wise Guys Radio Show for 15 minutes today, and I bought everything he was selling. I think that it will not only be built, but will be a huge success and revolutionize the industry. This guy was awesome to listen to with his enthusiasm and vision, and his place sounds like somewhere an absolute candy store for adults and children alike. And Illini made a guest call-in appearance on the show as well, just after this guy got done talking. :dancefool

This does sound great. Something a bit off the beaten path and unique. Nothing wrong with that! But even if it does happen, these things take FOREVER to materialize so I wouldn't expect to see anything for another 4-5 years minimum.

I'll take $1 at the 10,000 to 1. Remind me for the $1 at the next bash...or I'll even get you a beer. :toast:

Well you guys might be right. But after further looking into this guy, he might, just might be one of those that has, or can promote MORE money than anyone here gives him credit for. People supposedly close to him say that he is going to try to do it at no matter the cost. Ya know Las Vegas started out in the desert once upon a time. As in most things time will tell.

Insiders, you said it right, he is a promoter. The local radio show made this comment, "now all he has to do is raise the money", with a laugh.

You'd have thought for the amount of time the El Rancho has been closed, that someone or something would have opened up in that spot. I think they are finally getting something going that sounds like it could make it like a condo project.

With the way Vegas is expanding, this type of place could make it in N.L.V., but it would have to be supported by the locals as well as tourists. I see no problem with tourists going to NLV as long as the attraction is worth while.

Let's see here. Locals number 1.7 million, and 1.6 million of them hate the Strip. Stations Casinos is building tons more casinos in the next few years, and took $1400 on average from every person in the Valley last year. Doesn't seem like that much of a stretch, and some are calling it laughable. Lots of people laughed at Steve Wynn back in the day, too.

Illini, stick around here for a year and you will understand how money for building shit works here. He ain't going to get it, period. What he is hoping to do is hype up the project and sell it eventually to people who have more sense and scale it down to something they can get the money for. These days without a ridiculous project no one will even pay attention to you.

Remember how Ivana Trump was marketing condos for awhile? Those guys were brilliant. Lined up investors to buy the land for very little, did up the sales presentation and signed on Ivana and turned what probably cost very little cash out of pocket into something they sold for $48 million. The guy who started that probably put less than $1 million of his own money into it and I wouldn't be surprised if he walked away with at least $5 million. For doing nothing but hyping something that had zero chance of being built. That is how people flip in this town on commericial real estate.

This guy hyping this project is a sales guy with no money and no investors. He will flip over the whole thing and it will come out as just some residential housing and a locals casino, you watch.

Only if they build a 26,000 seat stadium with 5,500 hotel rooms and 10 nightclubs to go with that "locals" casino :puppy:

Thats why this project is so laughable. Some huckster with no money talking about a 4 billion dollar casino/stadium off the strip. His other project is a stairway to the moon.

Speaking of moons Chuck what hapened to that Titanic project on the strip.
For those who do not understand things here in Vegas the reason it will not be built is because of location. Secondly the amount of contruction going on in this town has equipment from all over the world on a 4 year backlog. 3rd at 26000 seats he is going to run into the old boys network here who are going to want those seats for various functions or block his attempts at building.
4th he has got to be crazy to build here as locals do not support anything more than 5 miles from there house and hardly ever croos whole sides of town to go to anything including games at the Thomas and Mack which is in the middle of town. Good Luck to him because if he does open in about 3 years he will be closed in 4.
