Anyone old enough to remember the 1966 Texas Western vs. Kentucky?

In my lifetime, is has to be Villanova over GTown. The Hoyas just looked invincible. NC State's run in 83 was a close second. Was too young to remember UK's loss in 66.

....and nova and the pack have not come close to sniffing it since, which makes those two even more special and memorable............remember in '66 texas western (utep) came into the tourny ranked #4 so that win over kentucky was not the big upset most people would have you believe it was.

Nova was not as big an upset as they would have you believe as they had played G'town tough in 3 previous games that season. I remember catching 11 points and thinking it was a gift.
Ncst on the other hand was playing Phi Cramma Jamma, probably the best team ever in CBB.

NC State, the entire tournament for them was a minor miracle, they had to win the ACC tournament just to qualify for the big dance, they went into OT with Pepperdine before getting to the final four, they beat a great college team with two future NBA HOF players.

Wasn't born yet, but Loyola, Ill beating 2-time champ Cincinnati was one of the biggest in 1963.

Good trivia question - Loyola was the first Division 1 team to start an all-black team (1961).

I dont understand why everyone says Gtown/VIl. Villinova was an 8 point dog. UConn was an 11.5 dog to Duke and won.
