Definately! Weight only strengthens their lineup, which is already preforming amazingly. Carolina and Ottawa are definately 1-2 in the East. If Carolina can keep up the goaltending they should go deep in the playoffs

In the west I think Calgary and Dallas would be tough to beat in a 7 game series...but there are a lot of good teams in the West so it's a little harder to predict!

Goaltending is the key in the playoffs. It should be interesting to see if Carolina's untested guys can handle the pressure when it counts.

This place isn't paradise... trust me.

Doug Weight is how old now? Like fucking 50 or something. I was 12 years old idolizing that guy when he was drafted to I believe the Rangers. In hockey, you can't do much after 32 years old. Gretzky and Lemuiex are the few that could.

Calgary rolls! I would think!

If the Flames are so good, how come they have only outscored opponents by a total of 8 goals this year? Or that they are 12-12-4 on the road? Flames look like a flame-out coming in spring.

Weight is a character type guy that the Canes would seem to lack so could be quite a good pickup. Still a lot of big wood to cut down in the East, but Canes could make some noise.

Ummm, was saying much the samething EXACTLY two years ago at this time and the majority thought the same.

As you know, the Lightning and their fans had the last :suomi: :suomi:

-FISH-

ps- The thing to keep in mind here is that the playoffs are a long way away yet and to assume that OTTAWA, CAROLINA, etc., etc will be so much head and shoulders above the Lightning and a few other teams at playoff time is ridiculous.

Having said that, no question OTTAWA and CAROLINA would be the favs in the EAST right now........but so what?????

Facts are, come playoff time, ALL top EIGHT teams in the Eastern Conference are going to be a handful to deal with!!!

The playoffs are going to be spectacular, as they always are in the NHL..............with or without the Lightning in them.

.

Sure they play tight games...but Kipper is a top 3 goalie in the league and we all know what he's capable of. The Flames will pick up a solid 1st line centre by the deadline and the offence will pickup.

The Flames definitely need help. Kipper passing on the Olympics might be good for them too, but they just don't impress me as a team to fear. They almost have to hope they sneak up on others again, but no one will take them lightly this time around.

The flames lack scoring punch are are struggling in the faceoff circle. Defence and goaltending is above average, although the flames have blown a few two goal leads this year.

I think one Hamrlik gets healthy and the flames get a solid center, they will be one scary team to face in the playoffs
