Hi all, I have a question for all the veterans and smart money people out there. I am the last person in the 16 point playoff teasers contest, and I was thinking about hedging/middling a bet with my picks.

I feel about 95% sure that seattle will cover +19.5

So I would be hedging the total. It is either over 34.5 or under 66.5.

I was thinking on putting $500 or so on the opposite of whatever i choose in the contest. It's also kind of like having a 16 point middle opportunity.

What do you guys think? Sound like a good idea?

Well if you are going to do it then I would definitely take the UNDER 66.5

I dont know about the contest and prizes so can't really say if you should do it or not

I don't understand why you would hedge with the total. It's not a middle because you could lose both. What if Pitt wins 45-24? That makes no sense to me. Why not just bet Pitt? Either -3.5/4 or one of the alternate lines at + money. Either that just sit on your likely winner.

The middle that im talking about is that the lines i gave in my first post are the contest lines.

Then if I layed $500 on a normal bookie line of 48 or whatever it's at right now, it would go like this.

In the contest, I would bet the over 34.5, so they only way I could lose the contest is if it goes under 34.5, thus I would bet the bookie under for the hedge. the middle is if the total goes between 34.5 and 48, then I win both.

For what it's worth, Under 66.5 looks like the better play of the two totals.
