What strategy do they use on placing there bets. When the line opens or close to game time, or both? And what do they wager?

Those that get the info before it hits the street.

They bet openers and closers.

Money management.

Nothing to do with winning. Nothing to do with capping. Nothing to do with amount wagered.

That's bunk. I almost always get the best line (like I have Pitt -3.5 -101 at pinny) and will buy back and pay the penalty if I don't. I am by no means a "sharp." I know some other posters that get bad lines all the time and they still win.

Books are afraid of line shoppers, pure and simple, because they exploit the books weaknesses. Doesn't mean the line shopper is a winner, just means the book is exposed.

Well, it might be bullshit, but that is how Pinny described it. If someone keeps getting the best line and beats moves, then Pinny classifies them as sharp - and Pinny has NO PROBLEM WITH THEM playing there, by the way.

Sharps are:
#1 Know something about the wager Before the line comes out, weather, injuries, attitudes of players.
#2 They Always getting the BEST of the number, and bookmakers just hate that, no matter if it wins or not. They, the bookmaker got beat to the number!
#3 Sharps are people that bet enough to make a difference in the bookmakers opinion. Sometimes Not the limit but more than the public.
#4 They most usually play to the opener and anything other than that is just not them, unless its a "buy back" proposition, as it would come 1 moment before post time as not allowing the others to have time to get off.
#5 Groups that are sharp and Big enough will take the lead with a number, hopeing and thinking the public and others will follow and drive the number to a more advantageous position before the same group will buy back ALL of thier money and much more as it was the Wrong side to begin with.
#6 Billy Walters and crew are the Sharpest of ALL times.
#7 There are "other" groups out there today that try to be just like Walters and that bunch, but sometimes they are not.
#8 Wlaters and the "movers" that he has can bet more money than ANY shop can withstand over a course of time.
#9 Walters MUST have "movers" "beards" to be able to operate at the level that he likes to play.
I am sure there is more, i just cant think of it at this time. Besides i am not sharp enough to know more.

Most sharps don't get inside info.

They just follow the markets very closely.

The best sharps KNEW everyone would bet on Bettis props. The semisharps just saw the money flowing and grabbed Bettis stuff early.

Doesn't mean we aren't going to dump ALL of it on Sunday morning though.

that is my definiton of a sharp..... if they did not no one would pay attention to their plays and not a book would recognize them as a different bettor then the masses.
