All ratings have been provided by college football players who have direct experience with the coaches. The ratings and scores do not reflect the opinions of Coach Ratings™. For more information about Coach Ratings™ and the process in which ratings are collected and compiled please see the About Ratings page.
To view the rating results click on the name of the coach. Coaches displaying “pending” have less than the minimum required number of ratings. These results may be highly skewed either positively or negatively for a coach. Please keep this in mind when reviewing the results. When the minimum is met then the number of ratings will be displayed.

Thanks DOC

What is really cool about these ratings is that one can click on the coachs name and it breaks down and rates them 1-5 in 20 categories.

Highly recommend reading collegefootballnews.com, as it is the by far the best CFB site to this observer.

Interesing reading on some of the coaches ...

Hey, Buddy .. not a Top 10 recruiting class but a deft "filler" ...

Nelson and Stanzi were nice pickups @ qb but hunch that Nelson might play elsewhere .. Hunter was a great pickup and Krug out of Minnesota is another Greenway ... Donahue the top kicker in the country and Cleveland - wideout from down in Texas that is flat out a keeper - is allready on campus and everything I've read from the Hawks forum says Wideout Bowman from Ohio will contribute on special teams this fall ... plus, the MO state player of the Yr is a true burner

2006 season has BCS written all over it as Tate shows why HE - NOT VINCE YOUNG - is the AllTime passing leader in Texas and Albert Young is a kid that reminds me a lot of Roger Craig with his running style .. Chandler will be one of the top TEs in the country and Moelki was the top rated TE in the country coming out of high school last fall ... the Offv Line has a ton of horses and a total of 14 returning starters with quality depth and one of the best coaching staffs in the country with a stadium that presents an automatic win makes me excited to get the fall here

I go back to Podolak days and love what KF has done w/this program ...
great videos at this site: http://www.scothawk.com/video_h.html

Ridiculous rating scale, agree on Ferentz being highly regarded but overall those ratings are awful. lol @ Mike Leach being ranked over Joe Paterno, and Urban Myer a 6.7?

Mike is a great coach. The man is an offensive genius. TT just doesn't get the best athletes like the big boys.

He's the Mike Martz of college football...obviously offensively creative but his play calling (just like martz) is ridiculous....but, like you said he is limited with personel.

I dont want to cause a sh*t storm here but whats all the fuss about with Ferentz. Hes a good coach, but not even close to a great coach. I have never seen a team of his overachieve. All I hear about is how Iowa is on the comeback trail and im still waiting for it. Granted, he sis take them out of the cellar they were in during HFs last few years but he hasnt done anything deserving of this rating. The last time they were in The BCS, they got mauled. I dont know what his bowl record is, but I know of at least 2 losses. I know there are alot of Iowa fans here and I am not looking to start anything, just what am I missing here?

This poll must have given Lloyd Carr bonus points for laying the hammer to Eastern Michigan.

Otherwise, how in the hell does he deserve a 9.0 rating?

John L. Smith is also very inconsistent to deserve anything over an average rating.

Big Hawkeye fan here.........as stated in earlier post, he probably doesn't deserve to be considered a TOP FIVE coach, let alone #1.......certainly not as of yet anyway.

But make absolute no mistake about it, taking EVERYTHING into consideration, FERENTZ is an OUTSTANDING college football coach.........IOWA fans should feel very privlidged to have him, and they do.

Ferentz is one, if not the #1 offensive line coach in ALL of organized football and that along with his strong discipline and class he institutes in his players are his MAIN STRENGTHS imo and makes him a very good coach. He has also proven to be a strong recruiter.

His weaknesses are that I do not believe he an overwhelming good in-game coach.......but is something that he will probably improve on with experience.

The main point to be taken from all this is that there is no doubt whatsoever that Ferentz is an outstanding college football coach........no matter if he ranked #1 or #20 on somebodys list

-FISH-

ps- By the way, check out Ferentz POINTSPREAD coaching record someday.......it would be hard for any coach to top.
