Polamalu injured in practice -- now 'probable' for Super Bowl

Thursday, February 02, 2006
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu left the Steelers practice today after his ankle was injured. Coach Bill Cowher listed him as probable to play in Sunday's Super Bowl against Seattle.

Cowher told the assigned pool reporter that he "tweaked" the ankle. No other information was available.

A player listed as probable on the injured list officially means he has a 75 percent chance of playing in that week's game.

Fullback Dan Kreider (knee) and defensive end Travis Kirschke (groin) also did not practice today and remain questionable for Sunday's game. Linebacker James Harrison (ankle) is probable. He also did not practice today.

Can I lay 4-1 or less at any shop that he WILL play?

Bigger question is whether he will be effective. I've tweaked an ankle before. Can be painful. Won't stop him but if it slows him down a step that could be real bad for Pitt.

If he cuts that mangy hair, being 15 lbs lighter should make up for any speed he lost with the ankle injurt.

What's that scene from MP and the Holy Grail? "It's merely a flesh wound" No arms, no legs, Polamalu will limp out there on his dick and play.

Tweaked enough to sit out rest of team drills and be dropped to probable. A lineman can play on a tweaked ankle all day long. Any player that relies on speed, start/stop and cutting it could hamper all of those, or worse yet, completely roll during game. That's a shame.

Best Wishes...OF :103631605

Kreider nicked also. Very important if not key player on other side of ball. The bus does not roll well without the grader making a road for him

NO doubt that he will play, as he is a tough guy just like ALL the Pitt bunch. But "what if" he is just a "tad" slow in reaction time an someone goes the distance for a TD. You know these little injuries sometimes get wrose as the game goes on.
