Middling Question

Hey guys. This is a question for all of y'all serious middlers out here. I've never done this type of thing before, but was thinking of doing it for the Superbowl.

I got Pitt -3.5 -103 earlier for about 6 units and am now looking at Bodog's Seat +4.5 -105.
Exactly what kind of odds am I getting to try and middle this four?

And how much do you think I should stick on it? I think that Pitt can cover the spread, but because of the large number of posters here that are backing the Seahawks, I'm a little leery.

Should I just try to middle with everything that I put on Pitt earlier, but leave one unit on Pitt? Thanks for any advice, guys.

8 cents for the 4 middle is a good play :103631605

Middle back late, SIA will probably get to +5.5 +105, if timed right ( $1,000 limit ). Keep whatever part you want. I dont know if a unit is 20, 500, 2000 or whatever to you.

Lemme ask y'all this question as well

Would y'all rather middle the 4 or would you rather scalp the 3.5, favoring Pitt/Seattle (whoever you are siding with)?

Thanks a lot, guys.

Middle ! You have less options to scalp ( sell points) mainly Pinny, you can get free half at Sky, bet dog at SIA ( like a free half +10 cents sometimes), get a low exchange price, etc.

Plus being SB you have chance for big win at little cost. I'd definetly go for the gusto. You can save the scalps for baseball, since you can't really middle bases ( closest thing is fav ML, dog +1.5 runs).

Haha. Ok. So bodog changed their lines.

Best thing I have for +4.5 is now -112 at Nine. Still a good proposition to middle this?

You might want to wait as this line might go higher than the 4.5 mentioned. Pitt will be the John Q side no doubt, and they might drive the number even beyond 5.

I have a feeling the 4 1/2 might not hold for long when it does show, at least with affordable juice like you had. I personally would not shoot a 4. I would shoot a 3 to a 4 1/2. I would scalp out a profit, if I could. Laying 3 1/2 is like taking 2 1/2. Wrong side of the KEY number.

There's no profit to scalp, yet ! Pinny is at +102 selling back, I'm pretty sure you'll do better waiting, and buying back at SIA, that's what I'd do, if I wanted out of original bet.

Well, if I wanted to scalp, I could take Seattle +107 at matchbook, but yeah. :p

For purposes of discussion, let's say my unit is $100.

Exactly what odds am I giving myself to try to middle this 4 and how is that different from a prop bet that goes something like "Pitt wins by 3 or 4 +300 or something like that?" (I made up those odds right there).

OK: so actual odds are +1980. Holy crap!

Am I actually getting better odds than +1980?

My initial thought is.....can you do anything with the +1980 and set up a middle/hedge......

Doubt there is because the Pitt win by 3 or 4 is too specific to actually create a middle/hedge opportunity......doesn't give you infinity like a true middle offers.....

Maybe some math majors could help out on this one.....
