I am waiting for Judge as well, he always calls it down the middle....I have tried to put myself in a diehard Steelers fans shoes, I seriously doubt I would be feeling to great about the way they won it, they had a magical season , not sure I would even watch the higlights for this one if I was a Steelers fan.

Randle El made a great play, Ben threw up a prayer that somehow ended up in Ward's hands, and Parker found a hole on a busted defensive assignment, other than that what else did Pitt do, I'm not sure.

journey, pitt played a decent game but, no way in hell they should have won by double digits. erase the horrible calls and maybe they still win the game...maybe they dont.

we will never know.

The only thing that was missing....... the refs did not use the terrible towels as official flags

That's a good one JMAN! :puppy: But true! Seattle got jobbed - but still could have and should have won! They had plenty of chances and did not capitalize even though I think the head office definitely made sure the refs were on Pittsburgh's side!

Don't think the fix was in. Refs definately blew some calls. Seattle could have still won the game if they would have played well which they didn't. Steelers also didn't bring their A game. The only one of the questionable calls that looked OBVIOUSLY wrong to me, was the Ben td. Will get some arguement on this, but I think Pt was the better team. Was so sick Sunday only saw one or two plays. But watched a tape of the game Monday night.

Something has to be done by the NFL. The refs in the playoffs were terrible as a whole. When the still can't get calls right with replays, it is time to reevaluate.

judge i respect your opinion and, if you say i'm all wet...i'll beg to differ but i'll let it die. here are my issues:

1) the pass interference call in the end zone on seattle...horrible call. did the receiver make contact with the defender...yes. did it change the defender's direction or cause seperation...no way. that call was terrible and should never have been made in any game...let alone the superbowl.

2) the big ben td was a tough call to make. here is my problem with it...the ref initially signalled 4th down and changed his mind as he ran towards the ball. of course, the play went to instant replay review and no indisputable evidence was found to reverse the call on the field. the same would have been the case if the ref stuck to his initial call of 4th down. that's very fishy.

3) the holding calls and block in the back calls that occured throughout the game against seattle. all at very crucial times. now, was there actual holding each time? was there an illegal block in the back each time? that is debatable BUT, pitt was not called once...NOT ONCE the entire game. if the officials decided before-hand to call the game tight, as indicated by the holding calls and the pass interference call in the end zone, they need to call it tight BOTH WAYS. does anyone out there honestly believe that no pitt lineman held a defender the entire game? no pitt return team member commited an illegal block?

4) the call on hasselbeck was the ABSOLUTE worst call i have ever seen. no one from the league office can say anything to defend that call. and no one is talking about it expect me on espn radio with dan patrick.

5) there were also other minor things like ball placement after a play, the no call of the horse collar tackle on alexander...all of which went against seattle.

did seattle miss opportunities? absolutely. they missed 2 field goals, did not punt well and had bad clock management at the end of both halfs. that being said, the refs did them in. look at the stats. seattle held the pitt offense down except for 2 plays. big ben looked awful...worst qb rating ever in a superbowl i think. seattle moved the ball all over pitt but was hamstrung at the most crucial times by the refs.

tell me where i'm wrong.

I could understand the interfernce call. The replay showed that maybe the should have been no call. But the first time I saw it in real time, thought the call is correct.
The blocking in the back calls have been occuring all year long. Therefore they were consistent with the way the refs have been making the calls.

so, pitt did not block in the back on one punt or kick return, the entire game?

and, when seattle did...it just happened to be on the returns that went for big yardage? (the call on the peter warrick return happened away from the ball and was made by an official that was no where near the play).

Blue, Seattle seemed to have gotten jobbed here. But I basically saw the same thing occur time after time during the course of the year. Don't believe in a conspiracy, just believe the refs stink. Obviously the amount of Steelers fans in the stands, influenced the officials judgements. Every home team always seem to get the breaks on calls. Certainly nothing new.

Btw, when Steelers were getting screwed in Indy, thought it was nothing more than incompetence.

judge, i think its more than "the refs stink". i think its "the refs were biased". if they just stunk, there would be horrible calls going both ways.

anyway, its water under the dam now. congrats on your superbowl victory...i know you waited a long time. too bad you have to resond to thread like this one.
