people's perception about the lakers have changed over the past couple of weeks. just a few weeks ago, when kobe was on his scoring spree, some posters were touting that the lakers were close to being a championship team. the lakers are flawed, and will reamain so because of salary cap restricitons, kobe's selfish play, poor drafting by the lakers, and the lack of desire for free agents to play with kobe. i think the rockets are a dangerous team, and if they can climb out of the hole they are in, they can be very dangerous.
Why doesn't Allen Iverson get the same abuse as Kobe? He has made a career of shooting a higher percentage of his team's total shots, but scoring a lower percentage of his team's points (and all at a lower percentage) than Kobe. How does he make his teammates better? What has AI ever won? He usually leads the league in shots taken, shots missed and turnovers but I never hear anyone attack him like they do Kobe.
And it is not like AI is some ideal teammate, how many coaches and teammates has he had spats with?

The Charlotte Bobcats team roster combined salary is 33 mil.
With 16 mil, the Lakers could have 3 stellar team players at over 5 mil a year. Or they could sign half the Bobcats roster. Sure the Bobcats suck, but 3 or 4 good team players could take the 15.9 mil (Kobe's salary) and make the Lakers and their old fart coach an above .500 team.
One player can't do it all himself, but I'm impressed that Kobe keeps trying to do just that.
