I am starting to get the itch. Ready for spring training to start. New season brings new and old expectations. Looking forward to seeing opening of new Busch Stadium in St. Louis and seeing if Cards can get over the hump. Wondering if White Sox will repeat. Who the surprise teams will be this year? I like Dodgers, Tigers, and Rangers for surprise teams. Who will be the disappointments? Red Sox, Astros, and Braves are my top candidates. Will Bonds pass Aaron? Will Clemens come back and pitch in May? I can't wait !

As much as I love baseball, most if not all of my sports attention and thoughts are currently geared towards the NHL.........and to a lesser extent basketball, Nascar, and golf.

However, living within 5 miles of a of couple spring training sites(BlueJays and Phillies), as well as numerous others within a 40 mile range............is very, very exciting this time of year for yours trully as it is for many diehard baseball fans in Florida.

Best things about baseball starting are 1)The NCAA Tournament is right before it and 2)the weather is starting to warm up big time and 3)It presents a chance to play DAY GAMES which is something that is sorely missed for the parts of the year without Baseball..

Best time of year. have always gone to Brewers spring training and get some sun.

My Brewers although not world beaters are finally playing good ball. Take my boys to about 40 games a year.

Looking to watch Bucs fan and his picks. Anyone else I should tail?

St. Louis will be a huge disappointment. Much weakened by offseason moves. Bullpen will be horrid. 3rd place. U94 wins is easy :money8:

Attended a few games in Chandler.........the Gary Sheffield rookie season.

A Milwaukee TV station actually interviewed me in the stands half snockered for a rather lengthy time.

D2Bets,

Knew you would be chiming in. First month will likely tell all for Cards. I think you are wrong about the bullpen as it is much improved for Cards like Cubs. Starting pitching is still the area of concern along with replacing production of corner outfielders. Cards will sink or swim again this year and I will say they will still be there. Cubs will likely be back in it if offense improves and pitching remain healthy. Cards are still the class of NL Central. Only year they did not make playoffs was 3 years ago when Izzy was hurt for first 3 months and even then were not eliminated until last weekend. Wishful thinking.

Personal OVERALL best venues and can't miss ballparks:

1. WINTER HAVEN (Indians)
2. CLEARWATER (Phillies)
3. LAKELAND (Tigers)
4. ORLANDO (Braves)

Can you explain to me why you think the BRAVES are going to be one of the big disappointments? The Braves always exceed expectations. This team is better this year pre-season than it was last year pre-season. The Braves have the best regular season manager in the history of baseball.

As much as I'm looking forward to baseball season, how can you look past March Madness? Easily a couple of the best weeks of the year. Nothing compares.

You can't be serious? LOL i have two friends who are the biggest dopes when it comes to the Cubs, will bet on them religiously and with the exception of 2003, they get their asses handed to them year after year. This team is cursed and will never win it big in this lifetime. Not that I wouldn't want to see that happen, but its not in their stars.

100% true, as i stated earlier in this post, Thats one of the best things about baseball season comign soon, the NCAA TOURNAMENT!!!! 11 AM till 11 PM worth of games on those 2st two days are like the best 2 days of the entire year. In fact nothing is really close to those days in my book.

Yeah, first time in a long time I'm actually looking forward to their season. Season ticket sales are up 30%, payroll is almost tripled, and lots of new talented faces like Overbay, Glaus, Molina, Burnett and Ryan.

As long as they finish ahead of the Yankees. Or win the season series vs them.
