I was discussing this with RobFunk last night, and concluded that I'd make a post about it just to get it off my chest:
As much as I love the forums here, one thing has bothered me from the minute I joined the RX: posters creating threads with picks that include NO RECORD TO DATE. How many threads do you see on a regular basis that are from obscure posters that just say, "I LOVE SACRAMENTO -4.5 TONIGHT!! EASY WINNER!!" Or some bullshit along those lines? Any Joe Blow can come on here and post a play with no record; it's meaningless.
I feel the need to point it out now because it seems like everyday, more and more new posters are joining and tailing others. Also, it seems like everyday some new poster creates a thread asking "who's the best CBB capper?" or something along those lines. Simply forcing people to post a record to date along with their play(s) would ensure that no newbie looking to tail a hot capper would lose $ on some bullshit poster claiming that something is a "lock," and it'd also help maintain some credibility on the forums. If Joe Blow posts "Miami +4.5 is a SURE WINNER!" and they lose, then come back a week later and post the same type of bullshit, no one's gonna remember that past pick. They're just gonna see some large, bold font claiming that for tonight, the Lakers are a sure thing!
If people HAD to post an accurate record to date, it'd be beneficial to all parties. I know the RX has a tracker forum, but lets be realistic here, not many people know about or even look at it on a regular basis. And I know that some great cappers(Action, Kapusta off the top of my head) don't post their record in their thread, but maybe they should too. That way, we wouldn't have a thread a day made asking who the best are; it'd be right in every single thread that has picks for anyone to see. Action and Kapusta are great; their records SHOULD be posted front and center for everyone to see. And if there are any questions regarding the accuracy of someone's record, one can always go back to their previous threads(something that I know people can do now, but honestly, hardly any newbie or anyone else is gonna do that).
This would also help get rid of the extraneous garbage threads that always flood the forum pages.
Am I the only one that is irked by this crap? I know RobFunk agrees, but does anyone else even notice or care? Just felt like throwing it out there...just something I've noticed. Alright, back to the TV, Full House is almost on!!! Holler!
