300-1 max payout on horse race???

A friend told me he hit the pik4 at Aqueduct the other day. The book he plays at pays max 300-1 per dollar . He hit it for $2. They paid him exactly 600. I told him he should have been paid 602. As 300-1 is not 299-1...The $2. stake must be returned. I know I am right but book contends it is $300 total per $...Opinion? BY the way at the track all wagers over 300-1 must be sighned for ..Payoff of 600. on 2. bet doesnt require sig .Why... Because it must pay over 602. to be 300-1...

Who gives a crap about the $2. Why even play the Pick 4 in the first place if you know you are capped at a 300-1 maximum?

El Jefe's got it right. You must be very careful of wagers you make at books that cap wager payouts, I certainly wouldnt bet a Pick 4 at a place that caps it at 300-1.

You SHOULD get $602 back in my opinion, but I guess their cap of 300-1 prevents it. If he won say $598 for $2 I'd guess they'd pay $600.

The people at this book are idiots or are trying to piss this player off, or both! Everyone knows that 300 to 1 will pay $602! If it were 300 FOR 1 then it would pay$600. (An old craps table trick!)
