Started out slow, but wow, what an ending. What a good movie. I actually thought this was one of Pacino's better performances. Does he gamble? Man had the gambling emotions down cold.

All sports gamblers should see this movie, IMO. The theme is "all gamblers secretly want to lose." The movie struck home for me.

PS Dawoofdaddy said that "all gamblers want to lose" some time ago.

Very true.

All gamblers should understand this curse exists in order to prevent themselves from self-destructing.

I liked the movie, some other guys have mentioned they hated it.

I could relate to so many things, both the Pacino character and Mathew's character were going thru....overall I think it was well worth seeing.

thought it was worth seeing..and a very good storyline...but they made the movie all wrong, some parts were pretty unrealistic...if it didn't have those big actors probably woulda bombed...

the ENDING is what really did it for me. Anyone who has a family, including kids, should understand.

overall, wasnt that realistic, as you are right, its ridiculously hard getting down $1 million on a game in cash and wiring six figures back and back forth by WU.

Ppeter , I think that is a good point you make, and why some like the movie and others don't....I would bet most of those that don't like it are single guys, or without kids.

After seeing the real Brandon Lee (I really wish i didn't see him) I lost some respect for the story....still loved the movie.

Great actors and Movie. They could have done a better job of learning slang terms. In one scene the term " fade" would have been a better way to describe the scene. A couple of hours here a t the RX would have improved those secenes.

Way too unrealistic. Too many 13-0 and 12-1 weekends to make it seem real. Also they never went back to those guys that were after him. After the day in the park, you never see them again? That was like a big part of the story and they never finished it.

those are two good points, I felt the same way when they were winning that high a %, that is where the movie was very unrealistic...they could have went back to the park situation, but the story would have went deep into that direction if they did.

the miracle backdoor cover was pretty well done....was that a Brent Musberger copy cat calling that one in the background?

One of the WORST movies I have ever seen.

I would not even recommend this as a RENTER.....

It is not a movie about gambling, but rather a movie about TOUTS....

I regret watching it & will never get that 2 hours of my life back.

i personally liked the movie.....if you have gambled and have had big money on a game that lost, you definatly know how some of the people in the movie are feeling...and when they win you definatly know how they are feeling too

i personally wouldnt buy the movie, but i would rent it and burn it illegally :):modemman:

Rent Gambler with Jimmy Caan. Two for money had absolute stupid lines. ONe where Pacino, the tout tell Mcconhey they get paid % of winning plays. Wold have been much better is they said they dont care who wins or loses. Could have really made better movie.
