Looking for experienced MLB handicappers that know what they are talking about for discussion via MSN or AOL Messenger. I'd like to do a daily thing but it will kind of be a "whenever you can" sorta deal. It's not like you will get the boot if you aren't around everyday.

Also, I generally handicap the night before and would prefer to discuss tommorrow's games before the actual day starts.

I generally create my own lines and then compare them to the actual lines and bet where the differences are. I would prefer posters who have a similar approach but will listen to anyone if they know their stuff.

If you are looking for credentials, I won theRX baseball handicapping challenge the first year it was around and had a nice lead in year two when I was booted from this site. I like to think I know a thing or two but it's always good to get a few other opinions from others that know their stuff.

Please email wilheim@therx.com if you are interested in these MLB handicapping chats.

Thanks guys, and good luck this MLB season.

Jake.

Why were you booted from this site? If you dont mind me asking?
Are you a "chalk" player in the baseball?
Do you ever lay -200?
Do you play totals?

Would love to know the answers to these.

Booted from the site back when Patrick McIrish was in charge. He was the most anal mod ever here. Banned record amounts of folks. I posted some links to a different forum here and was told to keep it out of the main forum and didn't post it there anymore. I did post it in the Rubber Room when someone asked for the link and even though that forum said it was "unmoderated", that was apparently not true because I got banned.

Anyway, I rarely play big favorites. Maybe 5-10 plays a year. Generally I'll play -1.5 if the team has an offense. If I like the White Sox a ton I'd probably take the ML if there was a ton of value, but if it's a Yankees vs. DRays game, I'd rather play -1.5 since the Yankees have a better chance of pounding the opposition and I don't like to play big favorites. Anything over -150 that I like, I'll take a serious look at the run line.

I play totals. Overs and unders... whatever has value.

I am mainly a dog player. I'd say my MLB breakdown goes like this:

Dogs: 40%
Favorites: 15%
Unders: 25%
Overs: 20%

Something like that.

Very NICE approach.
Strange that you should mention the NYY's as they will score lots of runs this year, IMO. Devil Rays have Outstanding record vs the NYY's as HUGE Doggie.
I myself am most a dog player also, maybe more than 60% of the time.
I mainly try my best to stay in the NL, unless something i think has some calue to me, an i do mean Value to hop over into the junior circuit.
Very interesting your approach to this in this forum, not saying that it is bad at all, just never seen a post such as that.
Baseball forum here last year had Lots of winners in it until later in the season, i noticed.
Cant remember the one poster that such a GREAT record at this time but i am sure someone will post it soon here. He was Outstanding for long time.
Will visit morte about this at a later time, as i am away from my home in Az and currently in Oklahoma but going back to Az with about 60 days or so.
Thanks very much in advance.

obtw i have been around the sports sinse 1982 and on Both sides of the counter.
Cub totals have been more than good to me down through the years.

Haha Wrigley totals are crazy. I don't bet them early just because of the fluxation of the total based on the wind. No stadium has wind issues affecting the total even close to Wrigley.

You should shoot Wil an email if you are interested. The more the merrier and it sounds like you know a good deal. Hope to see you in the discussion.

Haha Wrigley totals EARLY thats my main deal there. Like it when 2 bad picthers going and wind is in, in the morning but front comeing mid game that changes wind to OUT..Talk about GREAT bargain to the number. Makers always catch it, but sometimes not in time for the First bunch of us to beat them to the number Badly.
Will send Wil mail when i know more about where i am going to be.

Thanks again.

HUH?

Wrigley game totals are rarely posted until 3 hours before gametime, so I assume this scenario wouldn't happen that often.

IMO timing a front and hoping it will get there midway through the game isn't something worth wagering on. I have had the wind change affect my play once - granted I don't wager on all Cubs games, but I really haven't seen this angle help or hurt me any more than a fielding error would.

Just start watching this for the rest of your life.
The BIGGEST bet i EVER won was on a Cubs total in 1989 in May.
Back then the makers were first offshore and not that many of them either, as it was before the "scren" by far.
Why do you think the Makers are SCARED to death to hang up a number here in the First place?
AS far as timeing a front with the "right" pitchers out there is one way to have the Best of the number, and that what this is ALL about.
Once is sometimes ALL it takes.

Haha this thread actually turned into a cool discussion. I love talking about Wrigley as it is definately unique as far as totals.

Anyway, send an email to wil if you are interested in the chat I'm trying to get together.

The more, the merrier.
