How bout if one of the skaters put his hand down in a turn just as a guy is going to pass him ..

Could lose a few digits.. Ouch.

There is no margin for error in either sport. You make one bad turn in the downhill or a misstep in speed staking you are done.

yeah one chance, one run. No room for error at all. Pretty unforgiving to stumble after 4 yrs of prep. Not like hockey where a team gets a number of second chances to stay alive. And at least a number of the short speed skating races are combined attempts.

Something cool about the downhill though, the 100 m dash of the winter games.

that downhill seems so on the edge of control and so difficult compared to that lame ass half pipe crap!

It's too bad that you really can't tell how fast they are really going in the downhill. I'd say it's about 5x as fast as it looks.

The speeds are about 80 mph to a high of around 95 mph depending on the course.

i'm afraid to drive that fast on a straight highway .. cant imagine cruising down a mountain that quick.

Well Vinko Bogataj was the "agony of defeat guy" but he was a ski jumper. Another fucked up sport if you ask me.

and they have been over 30 years ago..



only thing that lasts under 2 minutes that is even close to being as exciting is my sex life....
