Well it actually means that 54 teams make the big dance. The write-in game occurs on Tuesday night on national TV. SO it is actually better for a shitty team to get into that game for the national exposure. It is usually 2 shitty teams that only made the tournament because they won their conference tournament. The winner then advances to play one of the #1 seeds in the first round, always on Friday

minor thing, its 63 teams then the 64th and 65th team play each other for the right to get smoked by a number one seed the next day.

I think he's referring to the ESPN Bracket Busters that take place this weekend, not the NCAA Play-In game. The Bracket Busters are for mid-low major conferences schools to play each other, with some of the marquee games making it on national TV to get some exposure to the committee. It used to be a lot smaller but it looks like there's about 20-25 games this year. Going to make my number crunching a real pain the ass, but that's ok. Should be some good value out there Saturday.

probably the NW St./ Utah St. game since NW St. doesn't usually have lined games...
