Correct me if im wrong here...but i will use this example...Yanks home vs tampa bay...yanks are minus 230....if i can get tampa plus 250 or more..then the idea is to bet 230 on yankees and 100 on tampa...if the yankees win its a break even bet..if tampa wins you win 20 dollars?? My question to you scalpers...how much of a difference do you see in basebal lines...plus how much of a bankroll do you need to start?? My friend is prepared to bankroll me for 20 dimes. What books have the least amount of difference between fav/underdogs.....i would think pinnacle?? Any help would be appreciated on my end...

Here's your options:

Bet 1: $2,300.00 @ -230
Bet 2: $942.86 @ +250

Total Investment: $3,242.86

Total Return: $3,300.00

Total Profit: $57.14

ROI: 1.76%

or

Bet 1: $1,000.00 @ -230
Bet 2: $409.94 @ +250

Total Investment: $1,409.94

Total Return: $1,434.78

Total Profit: $24.84

ROI: 1.76%

In your example above, I think it would be very, very hard to find that much of a discrepancy at two different books at the same exact time. It would be free money with no risk. Someone out there please prove me wrong.

20 cent discrepencies aren't the norm, but smaller ones are highly available. In order for this to be worthwhile, you would need the following:

at least 20k bankroll and that's only enough for small profit
accounts with 12+ books
lots of time looking at multiple browsers (preferably a multi-monitor setup)
good at math

There are plenty of arb opportunities, but it takes time and patience. Oh, and be prepared for sudden line changes that screw you. i.e, you place one bet and then go to place the other and the line changed. You'll most likely have to take a small loss when that happens, but if you're quick and careful, shouldn't happen often. If you take advantage of deposit and reload bonuses and put in the time and effort, this is definitely +EV.

Where I have seen it the most is with my local bookie and Pinnacle. There were many times my local was 30 cents off mostly on totals though. You may fnd totals easier than sides.

If you find them, you have a three ways to play it, but you may want to be consistant. The only way you win is playing the dog, favorite, or split it down the middle and guarantee some winnings.

If you have a hunch on a game with line discrepancies, load it so you get a Bonus Bet on the play you want, but over a whole season, pick which one of the 3 you want and just stick to it for ease.
