I had an indash dvd in my old car and added GPS a few months after, got a good deal on the GPS.
I rarely used the GPS in my city, a few times when I visited some places downtown. If you drive your vehicle to other cities often, I would say it would be useful. I typically fly to and from most of my destinations, so I ended up in a rental car lost. I would weigh the cost of adding to how much traveling you do in your car.

I look at this way..............I ask myself the question, how did I do without it prior to its conception? With or without GPS, I have done just fine. Never had it, and will not get it. I can read a map, and in some rare instances when man gets lost, I can ask for directions.
I have one built into my new vehicle....its nicE FOR TRIPS, but not reallyt necessary around the known parts.
I would perfer one that i could remove from the vechile and use in others, so I guess a portable one would be better.
One thing I dont like about mine is that you cant enter an address while on the move, you have to be in park, so searching directions n the fly doesnt work.
Also, i wish i could change the programs voice to a more sexy one.
