the only way i can get my wife to agree to let me go is if she comes with. she has a problem with me going to vegas alone for some reason...not sure why. now, i dont have a problem with her coming along, other than letting the degenerates around here look at my wife. but, before she agrees, she wants to know:

1) is there a pool at the golden nugget?

2) are there any good restaurants in the area?

3) are there any shops or other things in the area that she can do while i'm winning the r/x poker tournament or betting every game on the board with bucky? she does not gamble, you see. and, she doesnt want to cab it to the strip by herself while i am drinking beers with fish head in the golden nugget bar.

Hey Blue,

Nugget has what many consider to be the best pool downtown (which doesn't say too much) - but its still decent.

Freemont has entertainment (live bands) a lot of evenings. Not sure, but I think there are shuttles that go to the forum shops and outlet malls.

I have a friend who wrote a dining guide to downtown if you're looking for good places to eat.

Blue, they have a beautiful pool at the Nugget...

The hotel is right on Fremont Street, where there are a lot of little shops, restaurants to visit........

But its in the heart of downtown, so wouldnt be a major trip to anywhere she wanted to go.....

So, that being said, I'll keep a seat warm for ya...:thumbsup2:

The Hotel at Mandalay Bay is nice, but you know, it's slummin' it a bit from the GN. They do have a clothing optional pool for Mrs. Edwards!

BTW, the pool at the Nugget is only nice if it hasn't been closed due to someone blowing chunks in it (which they had by the time I was going to hit it after the Rx poker tourney). Maybe it was destiny, because that forced me back into the casino where I had my biggest win of the trip within an hour.

Tell me about it, I was sitting by the POOL when that happened, they had to shut down the pool for 24 hours so there was no pool at all....

Please no downtown casinos. We might as well have it at the gold spike (yuck) if we are going downtown. How about Flamingo or Tropicana, you know an older strip hotel. You could get great value and your in the heart of the best part of Vegas. The Boardwalk was torn down or I'd suggest it there. That is where I stayed everytime I have gone, I am far from a high roller and they always treated me great.

I didn't think the Nugget was too friendly with drink tickets....find a casino that doesn't require drink tickets and just hands out free drinks!!! Either way, just hoping I can be there again!!

Maybe Blue's wifey will wear her ISU pants for this ISU grad!
