I completely agree! We have a huge bracket pool going on with the tourney. It seems we might have enough interest for a contest next year at Rx.

Who did you take today?

FWIW, I took Campbell, Howell, Toms, Goosen, and Z.Johnson for $100 each.

Currently sitting with a few nice scalps and a FUTURE wager on Z. Johnson at 70-1 to win it all.

No ACTUAL plays as of yet.

Why the lean towards Toms........Lehman seems to have his game in very good shape and cannot see laying that kind of wood against him.

By the way, the steam has come in on TOMS, so perhaps you have the right side.

That is the one pick I probably regret. Toms is 1 of my favorite golfers and even bigger fan since he passed out on course last year. Also, I am betting against Lehman's age in this "grueling type" event after 2 days.

Laying heavy vig in golf matchups is a quick way to go broke!

Well, seen Lehman interviewed after yesterdays match and he stated he is possibly in the best shape of his golfing career, as he has been working out intensely for the past 7 months.

Fishhead taking an Iowa boy????

LMFAO!

You know, didn't even realize Johnson attended Drake until Hawkeye171 pointed out!

Is he a native Iowan?

70-1 will look pretty good if he survives his match today.

Golf should go to this format full-time. It would make the ratings go thru the roof.

Have a play-in round for the lower ranked players on Wednesday for the right to make the top 64. Your seeding gets seeded according to world rank.

Have a points system like Nascar, where the majors you get more points.
If the PGA were to do this it would reach popularity that you have never seen.

When you have people making office pools on a weekly basas, you have the potential for some bigtime ratings.

Believe the PGA is certainly making a move to having more Matchplay events............but one has to stay with many of the original tourney layouts for history sakes if nothing else.

TV ratings wouldnt be that good unless you had 2 big guns in the finals.

Then you might have a blowout in the final match and only those 2 players on the course.

I dont think the players like this format very much. You can play great and get beat. Where as if you played great in a regular event you are going to beat most of the field.

They would need a bigger payout for showing up and losing the first match.

Match Play events are just BS stuff made for TV. Some can be more interesting than the standard tournaments, though. The Ryder Cup, for example, is one of the best in my book. But a lot of the others are just BS. When's the next Battle at Bighorn matchup? Will Michele Wie be the next one to get sucked into that stuff for ratings?
