How big is this in Canada will many call in sick to their jobs today to watch. Just wondering I think they said Canada has the most curlers.

Looks like USA will win Bronze Live on MSNBC now

Actually, being a "sweeper" looks to be very tough.

I am still lobbying for SNOWMOBILE RACING as an Olympic sport and do not understand why it is not.

Also need stock car racing as a Medal sport in the summer games

The curlers look in real good shape do they test them for steroids:icon_conf

Would make the AMERICANS a strong favorite in stock car racing.

It's pretty big. Curling is a surprisingly reliable ratings grabber up here - and it doesn't get much bigger than this game.

I'll be glued to my TV. I'm self-employed so it's easy for me but if I worked a regular job, I would have found a way to get the day off. I'm sure lots of people will use vacation days or play hooky today.

Most people know how Canada feels about hockey. Curling is similar in a lot of ways. The scale is smaller and it's a bit more cultish but there are some hardcore fans who treat it as a semi-religion.

We have dominated the world in this sport. I would guess we have won about half the World Championships (men's and women's) since 1970. Expectations are always high.

Today, our curling honor is at stake!!

Thanks for the info, watching makes me want to go curl but no curling rinks close to where I live.

What's the deal with the curling shoes?

You can glide on the ice and semi-skate with them and also walk on the ice in them as well.

How come the curlers don't slip on the ice when walking?

I'm looking for something in a size 10 loafer curling shoe...

Schools in Newfoundland (home of skip Gushue) are closing early today just to watch the game. As Groucho mentions curling is a big ratings getter up here. Cold weather version of golf I suppose.

Canada has built some nice momentum into this final and I really like their chances to avenge one of their round robin losses. Finland hit a couple incredible shots in that game and with the hammer still only won by one.

Last rock is pretty important and with this advantage being determined by a coin toss just before the game its very difficult to get this info in time. If Canada wins this toss and gets last rock -170ish is very, very enticing. I'll post if I can get this infomation.

Finland all the way. This will be our only realistic chance to get a gold medal, so let us win. My little sister is going to Vancouver on May, so you can shack with her then, if you can affect the final result. Thank you in advance.

Pimpin your sister, thats deplorable!

More about the final, forgot to mention that the Canadian team was struggling with the flu bug throughout most of the round robin. Their best sweeper even had to miss a game or so. From what I hear they are basically 100% now. There's also motivation to get the gold for Russ Howard (oldtimer who joined their team who's never been able to capture gold himself).

**Tang if Finland gets the hammer thats a good play, if they don't its a toss up.

Canada practicing with the yellow stones indicating last rock advantage. But not sure if they have had the coin toss or not. Price rising at Pinny to 188 suggests they probably do have last rock.

Played Canada -170 for a nice play at Oly.
Also small on Canada -.5, +131 (5 ends) at Pinny.

gl

**Price flying over -200 at Pinny. All but certain they do hold last rock now.
