Dr. Pauly continues to provide the best online poker live blogging experience of the LA Classic. Included among the six survivors of the record starting field of 693 players is JC Tran coming to the final table as the chip leader. The winner of the event will take home the $2.3 million first place prize along with a $25K seat to the WPT Championships at the Bellagio in April. Second place will also become a millionaire receiving just over $1.1 million. JC Tran has to be favored to win it all. Tune into the Tao of Poker.com at 5 PM today for the play-by-play of the LA Classic, all the table news that counts, plus a generous helping of the unique weirdness seen by our resident poker scribe, Dr. Pauly.

Quiz Answer..

Answer <HR width="100%" color=#000000 noShade SIZE=1>Bet. With the flop having both a two-flush and two cards in a playing zone, it is unlikely the preflop raiser is slowplaying a king or pocket aces. You should bet the turn (and fold if raised). If you get called, you will probably get a cheap showdown at the river if a blank comes. You could win right here on the expensive street. If you check, you may be giving your opponents free cards to beat you. The other problem is that if you check, you put yourself in a guessing mode at the river if someone bets.

On the actual hand, the player checked the turn. The river was the 9

. The big blind bet and the preflop raiser called. The player thought awhile and reluctantly folded, figuring between the bettor and the overcaller, his jacks were beat. The preflop raiser won the pot with the A

for a pair of tens while the big blind mucked. Had the player bet the turn, the opponents would likely have checked the river, and he would have won the free showdown.
