You have to be into that type of movie. I know I'm going to rent it for sure.

A must see for anyone who is an Ungar fan such as myself. Other than that, it is not that great of a flick. The acting is bad and the story is very choppy. They never let you feel bad for Stu. Which is what I was hoping it would do, at least at some point in the movie.

It's funny because I will say this is a bad movie and many like it. But I like two for the money, which many dislike.

While we are on the topic of Ungar. I want to say I was very dissapointed he is not on Binion's wall of fame, which includes a horde of guys I've never heard of. I looked and looked, but could not find a framed picture of Stu.

I had the pleasure of meeting Stu a couple of times. When he first won the WSOP he was the youngest player to ever do so at the time. He then won it again the following year. But his best effort ever might have come the last time he won it in 1997. IN his time, he was acknowledged as the best Gin Rummy player in the world. He also was an excellent backgammon player.

It's really a shame that he had to let cocaine take control of his life.

Stuckin, you are right on the money. But that is the danger of being that damn smart. You get bored with life and resort to things such as drugs.

There will never be another Rummy player as good as him. It was his best game by far. If you watch the movie, you see there is a scene where he knows exactly what cards Mr.Miyagi has right down to the suit except for 1 I think. An absolute master of tells. If you pull a card from the deck he will tell you what you are holding without the 'now stick it back in' part.

Not about him getting bored with life. He never created a life he loved to live. Apparently he had no self admiration, or self respect.

RIP Stu.

I myself liked the movie. He was only himself when he was in action, and action he needed ALL the time. If you noticed the Sports and Horse's were his downfall. If he would have stuck mainly to the cards he might still be around today. JMHO

I just went to Amazon.com to buy the book. Only the movie showed up under the title discussed.

WHAT is the name of the book I need to buy valium? Anyone? I'd rather read the book or any great book about Stu Unger. Let me know and thanks.

I saw the movie and its pretty good. 7/10 plus one bonus since you can probably rent it for 99 cents.

Has anyone read the book? I looked on amazon today and the reviews were pretty good.

I really enjoyed the book. A bit sad, though. Amazing player this guy. Photographic memory if there is such a thing.

Name of the book is "One of a Kind" for someone who asked.

I thought it was a better movie than most people rate it. If you like poker and you like Michael Imperioli's acting, it is for you.

Stuey was a genius but also one of the biggest pricks you'll ever meet! At least to me, maybe he was nice to others - I hope so!
