Big favorite is Brokeback Mountain. If they sweep, I am screwed. I only need one winner.
I have watched Crash and Hustle and Flow. That's my bias towards T. Howard. Also read somewhere that Roger Ebert likes Crash for best picture.
I still don't know that I will actually watch the awards show. Depends on how much vodka is on hand.

The only LOCK there is Ang Lee for best directory. That's why it has high juice. Unfortuantely the books have it right. I do like BM for Best picture but I've been hearing so much Crash talk lately to pull off an upset so I"m still deciding.

I think director and actor are engraved in stone. Still Oscars have been predictable the past few years and perhaps there could be some shockers but personally I doubt in those categories. But for those prices I guess why not a small shot.

Slack research has led me to believe King Kong to win Best Visual Effects is a near lock. Oly has -250 (swear I saw it in the -125/-150 a week or so back) which seems pretty fair. King Kong to prevail in Sound Editing and Sound Mixing (nice price here) could also be money. Also took a shot with Memoirs of a Geisha to take down Best Costume. This flick is also up for Original Score and Art Direction. Not sure about Original Score (BBM co-fav) but Art Direction looks nice also, highly doubt Geisha goes home empty handed.
