Means no salary cap so the Washington Redskins can sign every free agent possible since currently every team has a spending limit.

thanks ..

Free agency is scheduled to start Friday. If the deal is not extended, this would be the last year with a salary cap, so agents and team officials want to know how to structure contracts.

Ain't nothin wrong with that. wooooo wooooooooooooooooooooo

Actually the Skins have been better when they haven't gone nuts throwing $ around...unlike that debacle that was the season we signed Deion, Bruce Smith, and Co.

But it's nice to have an owner that is willing to spend any amount of $ to win...I'll love owners like Mark Cuban because of it. There's a right way to spend $(something that Dan Snyder finally learned, stopped interfereing with personnel decisions), but having an owner that is dedicated to winning is a wonderful thing. That's why Skins fans need to get off Snyder's case already.

REDSKINS GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!
Basically, the Danny will buy every player worth a damn, leaving the trash to you other dregs.
Then, Danny will spend money to buy every other franchise in the NFL, fixing the games so the Redskins will win at all times.
The good times will roll in ol' DC once more!

There would be a cap this year, and there will be a major bloodletting. There would be no cap in 2007, and a lock out in 2008.

i listened to a interview with bill polian(colts gm) and he said if there is no agreement the cap would be cut this year, signing bonuses wouldn't be spread out as long, money for rookies would be cut a lot, and i think there were other negatives but cant remember them. he said the reason both sides agreed to these was to give both sides incentive to come to an agreement.

If the players union signed off on the deal the cap would be around 105 million without it the cap will be around 92-95 million for the upcoming season.

No way will there be any strike or lockout; the NFL is way too much of a cash cow. Upshaw's the biggest fool around; does he seriously think that if there's no cap in 2007 that they will NEVER go back? BS; they can easily play just one or two years without it.

God that would be disgusting. It would be Danny and Jerry trying to outspend each other. Only these two guys, who make more money than Colombian drug lords from their teams, would be out spending crazy money trying to buy a title. Meanwhile 10,000 fans would show up in the shiny new stadium Maricopa County bought for Bill Bidwell so he could pocket millions fielding yet another worthless Cards team. No salary cap wouldn't make big spenders sure winners, but it would make the skinflints the biggest losers you ever saw.

Unlike other sports where having just a couple of stars can make a team competitive, if you don't field at least 30 good players on an NFL team you are toast. Imagine a cheap team refusing to pay anything for decent offensive linemen. We could see the first team to give up 150 sacks in a season. A team that spent nothing on corners could average a full season giving up 40 points a game. Of course these teams would pretend to be trying by signing a couple of big name players, but if they skimp on linemen and corners they will get killed. Unfortunately linemen and corners don't put butts in seats in markets where fans aren't selling off first borns to get season tickets.

I pray we don't see a cap-less NFL in these days of milk and honey at the revenue trough, it would be ridiculously ugly for many teams.

We can look at this another way. The Saints, Cards, and Lions haven't exactly flourished under a salary cap. Maybe some teams need to lose 20+ million to change the direction.

It would be funny to see Snyder trying to outspend some of the other owners. He does not know talent at all.

Dante, 2006 (this upcoming year) will be capped at a lower level than had they got the deal done. Thus, had they got the deal done, Randel El would probably be a Steeler in 2006. 2007 will be uncapped and teams will be able to sign anyone.

It should be noted that the cap for 2006 is still higher than 2005, something like 95 mil, but had they got the deal done, it may have been up to 10 mil higher for 2006.

Interesting place, don't know the Pats can afford him since they can't afford Givens. I heard chicago and washington want him bad, but no way washington can afford him...they will have to cut 10 guys by tomorrow.
