I have relatives there and have visited numerous times. Its kind of a shell shock K1. You look in every direction and see trees and nothing urban, a total 180 from here. The RE market has just been terrible relatively speaking. My uncle made about 50% on his home in his first 3 years living there, back in the early 90s I think it was. Since then in something like 10 years he hasn't made 50%. The market is dormant and he says no signs of it getting better. He can't figure out why because they do get plenty of outsiders moving there, often from NYC or DC. About the only thing he figures is how sprawled out the area is. The three major cities still have plenty of room to grow, but the traffic is already so bad people try not to live in one and commute to another.
If you are moving just for RE, I would say forget it, that isn't likely to make you happy. Maybe it has something of a pickup as people pack up from higher cost areas, but it won't do what Vegas has done.
If you want a more easy going life, you might like it. Church is kind of big there, but nothing like the western part of the state. Real issue I had is there ain't much to do. Seems most weekend plans revolve around going shopping or to the movies, then church on Sunday. Some really nice shopping areas there, but living in Vegas it isn't like you need that upgrade. I guess if you are decompressing and looking for something with a slower pace of life, but great employment opportunities and lower housing costs it might work for you.
