What the hell is he doing on the US squad??? Are he and Brian Fuentes the best two lefties they could muster out of the pen? That is sad, almost as sad as the sad sack outfield the US put together. Good thing players from other squads are bowing out too.

With the players sitting out for DR as well I think Venezuela should be the favorites.

Who knows, I lost track of all the last minute drop outs. Venezuela has a strong staff and a good balanced lineup...well for now on paper.

Projected Lineup:
RF Bobby Abreu
DH Richard Hidalgo
3B Miguel Cabrera
C Victor Martinez
LF Magglio Ordonez
1B Ramon Hernandez
2B Tomas Perez
CF Endy Chavez
SS Omar Vizquel

Projected starting pitchers: Johan Santana, Freddy Garcia, Kelvim Escobar

They also have Felix Hernandez and Gil Chacin, but can't tell if they are on the roster. K-Rod is there to close down games too. Very solid squad.

I would like to speak for Americans everywhere. We do not need dis-interested highly overpaid stat builder losers on our team, when possible. Like our basketball and hockey olympic teams lately. Great names, no results. We need better. We need people witha heart who care. Not to mention who can produce under pressure.

So I am very, very strongly proposing a trade. The USA trades Alex Rodriguez to the Dominican Republic for David Ortiz. Would anyone here or any official baseball MVP voters from last year who voted for Gay Rod actually object to that trade?

If so, I guess they got the DR on the money line :103631605

LEITER's Reasoning ...

Leiter's using this for his Resume, when he retires.

He has Lucrative Visions of a Huge Career in Broadcasting.

Leiter is already very polished as a broadcaster...no doubt he will be on ESPN or Fox.

He was the greatest 2-1 losing, big game pitcher, who gave up a key 8th innning walk (on a 3-2 pitch) in a tie game, I ever saw.

Always hard luck!

The Classsic is rigged for the US squad to get a free pass to the semis and even then, the best team they may have to play is Mexico, Japan, Canada. US won't have to play DR, Cuba, Venezuala until the finals at earliest which is a joke. US probably only 4th best team in this tournament.
