That's how it works in baseball. The only way you make alot of money early on in your career is if you signed a big deal when you first signed with the team. After that baseball doesn't require a team to pay much more than the minimum salary for the first few years of service. Next year he will be eligible for arbitration, and he'll get a big raise, though he still won't be making as much as he will when and if he hits free agency. If the Marlins were smart they would lock him up to a long term deal now, but it's fire sale time down there so who knows.

He must have the worst agent in the world he should be getting atleast 5-8 Million. WHAT A MORON !!! He is one of the top 30 best playeres in the game. MIGUEL CAIRO MAKES MORE THAN HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When Kevin Brown last year made about 30x what Cabrera makes that is sad.

Nothing to do with his agent, he's not free to sign with anyone he wants.. the Marlins have a monopoly on his services.. their way or the highway

It comes back to the players in spades when they make 8 million for hitting .260 with 20 home runs at the end of their carreer. Or when a pitcher making 10 million a year for 4 years blows out his arm and still has to be paid. (a la Darren Dreifort),

I am not against it. The players do deserve the money. They generate the interest in the game.
