I don't have a fortune. I compare myself to Fish. I am where he was 15 years ago. Making lots of money, and blowing tons too. There are tons of games out there to take to you advantage, and when people see you doing it, they think, WOW that is the life!

It is a grind, for sure. I am self made, no one has helped me. I do well for myself, and each day brings on a new challenge.

But in reality, I compare myself to Fish, a lot of the same qualities. I think he is where I will be in 15 years. But was not where I am at now at 31. Sounds, weird, but I know Fish knows what I am talking about.

I guarntee Fish has some stories from his late 2o's and 30's, hell I know I do. The swings are unreal when you live on the edge.

I come from a hard working family. Not much money, but always willing to wake-up in the morning and go to work.

My wife's family has a house in the Hampton's (NY), A lake/boat house (with 2 boats) in Wisconsin in addition to their main house in Illinois. She married a degenerate gambler (5K + posts at RX) who works in a casino.

I was very fortunate to be raised in a comfortable family. My pop made a lot of money in industrial real estate.

In order to be my own man, I had to leave the nest and the country. The money isn't worth it if you have people controlling everything you do.

15 years ago fish was making 7 bucks an hour plus tips working as a ticket writer. I don't think he could afford to play $500.00 a hand in Black Jack.

Now he rents, works as a mod and grinds out a living with scalps.

NO struggles when i was growing up at home.
Nowdays Money is just something to keep score with, it does not have the value that it did back then, by NO means. With inflation and Everything going up no telling where and if this trend will ever stop! Struggles came much later in life for me.

My friends wife actually grew up eating cereal with water. Still does it to this day. VERY strange to watch.

:lolBIG: Good one. I grew up so poor we literally picked dandilion leaves to make soup. This is when we were living in a poor part of Stoneham (sp?) near Boston. I was very little and our entire family was living off one salary of $150 a week. True story. :cryingcry

Hey Bigbet,
I would worry more about the mental stability in your family if I was you, certainly the financial side is a joke. When are you giving up gambling next, does it coincide with the lunar cycles? maybe its hereditary:drink:

that's good wil...we grew up in the middle..didn't ever know that we were poor.... just had enough to get by..then when i got to high school my father invested in 10 oil wells and all 10 of them became producers...i remember my mother going to the mail box and coming to the house with checks from mobil, exxon, phillips, and the such for like 75,000 and 80,000 per month...things really got better for my parents...although they never changed, drove the same cars lived in the same house...it's all relative on how you use it...but they did have a good life..from like '73 to '82 then my dad sold all interests, just before the oil took a nose dive... jeffksu...made for a very comfortable retirement for the folks...55 and playing golf 6 days a week...10 miles north of mexico in mission texas....

Didn't really realize how little we had coming up...I think a lot of people in that time barely made it, with just one parent working...in some ways we had much less , in other ways it was a better time for sure.

I don't think money buys happiness that's for sure.
