ChiSox Record 2006: 0-0

Well folks, I know it's just spring training and I'm not going crazy on any games really BUT I like this play here.

Chicago White Sox ML
Ok, so the ChiSox are 0-6 in spring training, their offense has put that many runs on the board compared to other teams, and we've yet to find a solid lefty for our bullpen (yet...). The Rockies have already beaten us, so we've seen what they can do with their youngsters. So far I've heard that Jon Garland, Dustin Hermanson, and Cliff Politte are scheduled to pitch. I've also heard whispers that Javier Lopez and Arnie Munoz may get some work in today. Garland, Lopez, and Munoz all pitched in the March 1st loss to Colorado (the spring training opener) so I expect them to want to get just a taste of revenge, especially Munoz who is trying to earn a spot in the BP and Lopez who is trying to find his spot in the rotation.

While it is just spring training Ozzie Guillen said he will have a meeting with his squad Monday morning telling them that their season truly starts here today in Tucson. Here's a little excerpt I got off the ChiSox website...

"I expect all the players to get some fire," Guillen said. "It's not easy to fire up when you don't have hits. But I'm going to tell the guys to pick it up a notch and play the way we should be playing and get it from there.

"We are going to start Monday and take it all the way to the end of the season," Guillen added. "It's not easy to turn it on in one minute, so I expect to see better games."

If the 5 pitchers I listed earlier are in fact going, this could be the most "solid" pitching lineup the ChiSox have used/will use the entire spring training. Combine that with the fact they have yet to win a game, and the fact Ozzie will wake them up, I think they take this one from Colorado.

Aaron Cook is scheduled to start for Colorado, and while he's OK with his career 4.80 ERA he can have his confidence shaken if touched early. Not sure who the Rockies will use after him though, they went through Tom Martin, Jose Mesa, Keiichi Yabu, Scott Dohmann, and Nate Field yesterday.

Again folks, it's just spring training so it'll be a small play for me, but whatever the case...GO CHISOX!

ProTip: White Sox fans don't call them the ChiSox. Kind of like how people from San Francisco dont call it "Frisco." They're just the Sox, or the White Sox if you're in the company of a Red Sox fan.

Go Sox!
