Give me a good reason why I should not bet Detroit to win the AL Central at +1484.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have already put a significant wager, for me anyway, on over 79 but I just wanted to hear some educated opinions.

Thanks

thats definite value at that number considering the players they have right now. do you think they have the type of ownership willing to ante up at the deadline, snag an extra starter, and take a shot this season? the answer to that would decide how much id put on it.

im expecting huge dropoffs from the chisox and indians, so someone has to get those wins...i like it

Thta's a very good point Chris and one I don't really don't have the answer to. I really think the Sox are overvalued at the moment also. A three way race between the Sox, Indians and Tigers is what I anticipate at about 120 games. Your question about the willingness to ante up up is essential. Thanks very much for the reply. Any Tiger fans out there?

A chance yes. I have them at 82 wins. I have the Indians winning the Central with 86 wins and the Sox at 81, as it stands now. This division really doesn't impress me all that much so I was thinking a shot at 14 - 1 might be worth it. With that said Chris' position is worth considering and I probably won't actually pull the trigger until I am a little more confident.

As I posted above, I've placed my bet on Tigers over 79. Just looking for a little icing on the cake hopefully.

What is the line on them beating out the Royals for fourth? You might win that one.

leyland was a bad choice. can't understand the fascination w/him. quit in colorado because he couldn't handle it anymore? after losing bonds, bonilla, & drabek, stayed in pitt forever & couldn't develop shit. never making any improvement. even if you lose ur stars, you're good if you can develop and get better, like the indians have done so well. leyland had forever to that in pitt & he didn't do diddlysquat. hate the gm there too. i feel he's making some big mistakes. he's going to bury that team. wsox and tribe are the class of the division. wsox are loaded w/starting pitching and will make moves if they have at the end of the year. the tribe is just getting better and better. their gm is doing a great job. tigers giving big money to todd jones? that's a good move?

Thanks for the replies. I've been busy treading water for the last 72 hours in college hoops so I kinda forgot I posted this thread. Never did put in Det to win, though I was close. A couple drinks can turn 82 wins into 90. :drink:

The Tigers were a year too late, i would have won 100K+ last year on props, I woosed out this year as well. I told people they had the best pitching in bb and that you can't trade any of them, I was laughed at. They have made ammends though. Didn't realize how bad Trammell was either
