Having watched my father suffer a massive stroke and live for 20 years paralyzied, couldn't speak, read or write, believe me when I say that although it is hard to see a young 44 year old man pass from a stroke, it is better for both he and his family that he not live as a partial vegetable. May he rest in peace and my prayers go out to his family and all those who cared for him. Life is very cruel and harse at times.

RIP KIRBY!!!

I really think he had problems though. Mental and physical. Some people just go through life like that. It really puts things into perspective anytime somebody dies. It goes to show no matter who you are, you can go tomorrow.

I agree 100% Ted. Life after a serious stroke is living a nightmare-some much more so than others, but it's rarely a pretty sight.

RIP

I'll second that. I was raised by my grandparents, and my grandfather had a massive stoke when I was about 15. He made a decent recovery, but was still mostly paralyzed, and couldn't write or say the things in the way he wanted to say them. Tough sledding all the way around...

Kirby will be missed. Here's hoping his family will know of the support and admiration that he had from average sports fans like us will provide some sort of comfort during this time.

Something for all of us to think about. Considering his forced retirement due to glaucoma and his stroke yesterday, I was have to say that he had quite a blood pressure problem.

Stay on top of that BP, regardless of how old you are-it is usually controllable. Mine has always been a little high, so this is kind of a personal wake up call.
