Depending on who you ask the figure you will hear is from 3 billion to about 20 billion so do not take much stock in any estimate. Personally I thing 15.5 billion is a bit high. I would guess it is closer to 6 billion. My guess is probably as good as any others.

How does one even attempt to make an estimate of such huge proportions?

Where does one even begin?

exactly my point. 15.5 billion is purely a guess. It should come attached to a margin of error of +5 billion and -10 billion

That is incredible Fish.
Just curious - I imagine most of that is casino and poker, but how do they consider revenue? for example, in casino do they count every spin of the roulett wheel as revenue? technicaly every spin is a play. Or do they take a more realistic approach and count every time you log in to a game as a session and figure the +/- on that session.

Your guess is as good as mine.

That's what I was wondering. I mean is every bet we make "revenue"? Can't be. If that was the case then 15.5 billion would be tiny. If it's really operation profit then that's pretty impressive. U.S. missing out on BILLIONS annually in taxes by not legalizing. But hey, it's not like we have a deficit or anything... :nohead:

Revenues are net win for the casinos. US land-based casinos generate about $50 billion a year.

Most of the money is generated by publicly traded companies and state-owned lotteries. Our little slice of sports betting dollars is tiny compared to the rest.
