Would baseball ever do this though? Highly unlikely! Should they? Well, it doesn't really matter now, we all know no one hit more than 61 home runs, without cheating.

I will be the first to admit, it was pretty amazing the way the entire league feared Barry Bonds (FRAUD), being a huge stats guy, I was in awe of this spectacle, it will still be hard to put this all in proper perspective, thanks to almost an entire 'de'generation of MLB players from Brady Anderson(FRAUD) (who hit 50) to Brett Boone (FRAUD) to Barry, all these players tainted MLB records pretty much forever, unless Selig or some other commisioner someday decides to do the right thing....

The Maris children must feel like complete fools by now, being in St Louis to witness Mark McGwire, breaking their father's hallowed mark, along side Sammy Sosa (FRAUD)....McGwire (FRAUD) on the brink of retiring some five years earlier could barely keep his average above .200, somehow turned his career around to break Maris' record lol.

I'm not sure where that leaves players like Manny Ramirez, A-Rod, and several others who have never been officially accused or publically scrutinized like all of the above mentioned frauds, even if they are clean .

The new 8 men out;

Bonds, Sosa,McGwire,Giambi, Canseco, Anderson,Bagwell and Palmeiro

Thumps up to you!!! They're not clean, or at least there is no way to convince me untill MLB starts doing some real testing.

MLB will have a serious problem when Raffy, McGwire, Bonds and Sosa, these four have all obviously been caught red handed and are all very worthy (statistically) of HOF honors....

I just can't see any of them getting in now.

Bonds was clearly a HOF player before all this, he still would have hit atleast 400 HRs and stole 500 bases.

The other three, I'm not so sure, McGwire is modern day Dave Kingman, Sosa and Palmeiro pretty much played the majority of their careers 'juiced', so they cannot even be considered.

remind me again when sosa got caught red handed with steroids? I know it seems obvious to most, but other than being asked to attend the grand jury testimony and being suspected of steriod use, no other evidence has come up.

Yea, he used a corked bat, but i dont think anybody has come forth with any concrete evidence that Sosa was a steroid user.

I don't think it takes anything more than connecting the dots at this point, same with the other three...

I could list all the reasons once again, but why bother, if you think Sosa was clean ok....I don't think many will agree with you though.

Never said I thought Sosa was clean. Just wondered why you were so ready to throw him into the fire with Bonds, McGwire, and Palmiero. Those other three have had concrete evidence against their case. With Sosa, it is just a lot of speculation. That is all my point is.

Do you think he did?

If you could win 1 million dollars if you guessed correctly would you say yes or no?

Yea, unfortunately I think he probably did. But I am not going to go out and throw him in with those other guys quite yet. In this country we have a policy: innocent until proven guilty.

Bonds-admittedly took the cream and the clear, and evidence keeps piling on and on.

Palmiero-Failed drug test, enough said.

McGwire-Whole Andro deal, and the no comment at the Grand Jury testimony was essentially a confession.

My point is that we have no idea now really, just a whole lot of coincidences, players doing things never done before, mysteriously all shrinking, and numbers dropping, forced to retire, some getting caught red handed...total mess.

I loved watching Sosa and McGwire, I loved watching the Bonds spectacle the past 5-6 years....At some point though, these players should just come clean, no one is buying it anymore.

Hitting over 60 HR's was the norm for Sammy. Then MLB started testing for steroids. Sosa disappeared, career finished. What more proof do you need?

Oh, and that "speak no english" act at the hearing before congress said it all for me.

I remember when I think it was Tim Kurjan, might hve been Tom Boswell, one of the well known baseball writers challenged Sosa to take the test and e went nutso on him.

He went from launching moon shots onto the rooftops across the street to having his home run balls barely land in the net above the ivy.

Sosa was the least talented of the four players, by far.

Good Post, I don't recognize the current HR list. I hope Griffey gets healthy and passes them all so we can celebrate something legit.

Fred McGriff, the pure power hitter of our generation.
If he does not make the Hall and any of these frauds do, it is a complete farce.

Is Big Papi on roids? Seems not, that dude is naturally huge. Seems he could knock the cover off even without juicing. If that is the case, he is my candidate for best "clean" powerhitter in service today.

everyone knew he was guilty before the book came out...come on. all you have to do is look at his head. who's head grows 2 or 3 hat sizes after the age of 30?

if he's not doing roids, call guiness book of world records.
