I have been to Vegas 20-25 times. Never to Reno/Tahoe. Just asking for thoughts. I will be in South Tahoe area mostly. I will drop by the WPT that starts on Friday at the Reno Hilton. Taking the wifey and squid and brother (fellow poster) and his wife/kid too. I know it is different than Vegas, etc. .........just looking for info. Thanks. :103631605

Have fun. That place is ridiculous. I went there a few years ago with a few friends and had a blast. Skiing, playing golf, casinos, and going out every day and night. It is tough to beat.

There is a 45 min gap between Reno/Tahoe, but it flies by if you have a couple totties on the way.

You will love it being there with your wife. That place is basically couples only.

Been snowing a lot recently up there so be prepared. The lowest pass to get up to Tahoe from Reno is 7000 feet so if there is any weather around it will be snowing up there.

Reno sucks ass, don't plan on spending any of your valuable time away on that pit if you can avoid it. Reno Hilton isn't that bad a place, but only go there for the WPT and then plan on getting out. Whatever you do, avoid Downtown, unless you like smelly casinos and weird people walking on the streets.

I'm not a fan of Squaw. Check out Northstar, that place is usually packed and lots of fun to be at because of the atmosphere. This of course if you plan on skiing/boarding.

Alpine Meadows is a better place if you are looking for the least amount of people and wider areas to ski.

South Tahoe is fun, just relax and take a peak around the city. There are some great places to eat on the water.

Donner Lake area is also very nice.

Altitude is a pretty cool club up there (in Ceasar's I think)...there are some good shows and resteraunts in the casino's as well...northstar, boreal, Mt. Rose are pretty good ski slopes...

The city of Reno offers nothing for sports.

Take a &*^%load of money to Tahoe.
It is really a great place.

I enjoy skiing at Sierra,Kirkwood, Northstar, and Alpine Meadows. Squaw is okay but I would advise skipping Heavenly...it is a tourist trap and I am not impressed with it at all. If you want to stay in a casino stay at Harrah's in south shore. Call me crazy but I enjoy downtown Reno. While it is somewhat of a slum it does offer cheap and good gambling. It is not crowded at all and they offer low limit single deck blackjack. When I go I usually play at the Cal Neva. The Friday night seafood buffet at the Atlantis is excellent. Even better is the Pacifica Buffet at Harrah's South Shore. It is served Thursday-Saturday. I enjoy Reno/Tahoe much more than Vegas. Have fun!!!

Thanks for the info guys......I think we were planning on Heavenly, I need to research some on the others. I will look for poker, craps, and sports while I am there. I heard there is a river that you can watch the Salmon swimming upstream. I like that kind of stuff too.
