Rob- No kidding. What law did he break? Getting too much pu$$y? The guy has so much legal money, I doubt he's into dealing drugs or anything like that. Maybe it's the US gov't that put the Costa Rican gov't up to this, telling them that he is a fugitive of the US. You know they want his ass.

Yeah that must be it Illini. This guy is one of the most famous people in offshore bookmaking simply because his face is all over the place. He's damn near a poster boy for the industry.

Flouting his success and being so high profile is inviting this kind of trouble whether CR or US. Nothing against him but this seems to have been inevitable.

Assuming this is true, it won't surprise a lot of people. Even if the arrest is total bullshit, he'll have to fight like hell to beat it. I guess the Forbes cover was a little more than the feds could take.

To say the least, the timing seems mighty fishy.

It could be a publicity stunt, but it's unusual not to see it on Gambling911.

BP, nationality is not a defense in the US.

The US could put a criminal complaint together in a day or so but it is unlikely, although they may be working on one.

The CR authorities could have read the article and felt they were not getting enough of a cut.

Three things to think about IF police are really at his house and this is real.

One, does he keep drugs in the house? That never goes over to big, especially if he keeps a supply for parties like some people keep booze on hand. They love to find stuff like that, it makes for an easy case.

Two, if he is prolonged custody, will Bodog's house of cards fall apart? Were they more hype than substance? How deep was the marketing budget into customer funds?

Three, will he fight or will he roll? Will he fight in CR court? Would he fight an extradition to the US? Would he fight deportation to Canada? Would he fight gambling charges in the US or plead guilty?

So what? If he has committed a crime in the united states in he eyes of the FBI/CIA he can still be arrest and made to stand trial.

The article in todays Al Dia said the CR authorities had contacted the RCMP to see what could be done. I suspect a stunt, but if not it could be deported to Canada.

thats exactly what it is , in a country that its about the size of West Virginia with a hollier than thou actitude about gaming (curiously its not the same about prostitution or alcohol) you have a "foreigner" that on top of that is a BILLIONARIE running a "poker game" with the guys of Fox Network???????????

didn't take two secs before the police gets interested

add to that that the neighbors of the gated community were already sick and tired of all the people/bodyguards on their roads...............

if you are going to have a poker game........you should do it discretely :thumbsup2:

Billionaire or not, the guy is a moron. Get involved in a business illegal in parts of the world, and keep a low profile. The idiot kisses ass to get on Forbes, puts himself on all his commercials, calls himself the biggest bookie in the world, and sponsors lavish events to tout his websites. Not only that, but he uses HIS name on all of them. I don't think he cares about money, I think he wants some popularity, the guy seems to be just looking for some friends.

When you spend millions trying to persuade people that you are cool, this is what happens.

if I had a billion dollars only my dog would know about it.............I hope he hires more bodyguards because after all this publicity every person in CR that is in the business of breaking the law will be thinking about kidnapping him
