A judge, three officials of the K-9 unit, four officials of the Immigration Police , 15 officials of the OIJ (of the sections of computer science and drugs) 30 officials of the Public Force, and about 10 officials of the Police Special Services raided Ayre's home yesterday at 6.35 pm.

Calvin Ayre remainded surrounded and protected by his body guards, refusing to talk to the authorities, while Law Enforcement agents were storming his home.

Authorities seized evidence on the non authorized poker game set, including computers and documents. Five individuals were taken into custody by the Immigration Police due to irregularities with their visas.

Authorities left the property at around 9.30 pm.

Calvin Ayre current whereabouts remain unknown at this time. The Costa Rican newspaper Al Dia didn't confirm Bodog founder's arrest.

Bodog is an industry giant with offices in Costa Rica and Canada and a work force exceeding 500. The size of the company and its corporate structure is a guaranty to its tens of thousand of customers, regardless of Mr. Ayre's faith. History teaches that the arrest of main men of large operations never hindered their businesses. To the contrary WSEX prospered and doubled in size while its founder Jay Cohen was being kept into custody in the United States. Also BetCRIS prospered despite the arrest of its founder Ron Sacco.<!-- CONTENT END -->

may be it is good publicity may be not specially if you are not a national of the country where you are living..........example , if I lived in the States I wouldn't want a visit from the police while I am hosting a poker tournament that will be aired on tv

neither would I want to be known as a billionarie taking millions of dollars each month in profits......and then having the IRS (or its local equivalent) looking at my tax returns

neither would I want criminals knowing that I live in a small country ........knowing where I live and where my company is........

many times its best to keep a low profile (specially if you are not precisely doing bad financially) :drink:

because it came to light that he was having a poker tournament with celebrities in his house and it has a cash prize. while it is obviously ridiculous to you, me and everyone in this forum having a poker tournament for cash in your house may or may not be legal depending on where you live ( I have read about police showing up in bars in the States and shutting down cash poker tournaments so this is obviously not the first time that it happens)

he would appear in court to answer for said allegations that he was hosting a poker tournament for cash (nothing of this is related to his sportsbook etc etc)
