I place a horse bet with my book and my horse won. After the book had already taken my bet, they cancelled my bet after the race was over because the race went off 1 minute after I placed the bet. Do most books take these bets and then later on cancel the bets even though their software let you place the bet?

They take the bet because they have no idea whether a race has started or not. Later they can check the "off time" with the results of the race. If you placed the bet after the race started, it is considered no bet. They did the right thing. Bet earlier next time.

i am new to wagering horses online. I just thought most books wouldn't take a bet if the race had already went off. I don't know about the listed offtime.

The exact time should be on the wager. Should be good, if 1 mintue prior.

Playing ponies offshore has it's advantages and disadvantages, one being the book is unable to watch every track go off every time. A lot have disclaimers in their rules saying the bet must be confirmed at least 2 minutes or 1 minute before the race actually goes off. Seconds are usually not counted, so it's best to get your bet in at least 1 minute before post --- speaking from experience.:cryingcry
