The SAN DIEGO STATE AZTECS!

I predict an upset, SDSU has the talent to take out Gonzaga too. Slaughter, Heath, and Abukar are serious players....

I swear I'm not biased.

Something to consider....Utah is at 4,000 feet. SDSU is used to playing in the "Mountain" part of the Mountain West, and just played three straight games in Denver.

I was pleasantly surprised how the bracket lined up for SDSU. I don't think they really deserved an 11 seed with their RPI, but they end up drawing an overseeded Indiana and if they get by IU, perhaps an overrated Gonzaga, both winable for this team.

Unfortunately the Aztecs have a tendency to play like all Fischer-coached teams, Lights out and unstoppable at times, absolutely clueless at others. Case in point, I think SDSU shot 29% and still won in the the MWC championship game against a very bad Wyoming team. I saw these two teams play about a week ago and SDSU destroyed them, it was like they were playing a high-school team.

Indiana isn't overseeded. Only 11 teams in the country beat more top 50 teams than IU, only 1 team in the country played more top 50 teams than IU. Beating good teams is important in seeding.

That's a correlation, or in other words, 2 makes 1 way more likely. So not such a big thing.

Indiana was 7-8 against the top 50 compared to such brilliance as Tennesees 4-4, UCLAs 5-4, Gonzagas 3-3, LSUs 5-6, UNCs 5-4, Kansas 4-5.

Side note, I Just noticed MSU is 9-9, that means 2 teams have played more top 50 teams than IU.

IU is not over-seeded.

While it is possible for the Aztecs to upset the Hoosiers, they will have to play better then they did in the Conference Championship against Wyoming. They were very fortunate to win that game in overtime.

agreed...that was a pisspoor performance overall, i question if SDSU has the role players and shooters around Slaughter and Heath. I think they just might, but if they shoot like they did vs. Wyoming, IU will win by 20

I agree the wrong 2006 college hoops team is favored.

I also know that linemakers are playing into the public mentality of a 'Big Ten school just has to be favored over a relative unknown from the Mt. West Conference'

IU has tons of hoops history. San Diego St has very little.

The majority of the March Madness betting public, which is a step down from regular players, would have smelled a trap if San Diego St was favored.

I think the right 'public team' is favored.

SDS could very well win, but I dont see how you could think the wrong team is favored. San Diego St lost at home to Ill-Chi, they lost at California by 18, they lost at home to WASHINGTON St by 11, they lost at Providence by 15. So they may win, but no way the wrong team is favored.
