Japanese runner clearly tagged up and would have gave Japan a 4-3 lead, even after the appeal play, (which appeared to be done improperly by catcher Brian Schneider) the ump says the runner tagged up and play stands.

After a 'discussion' with USA manager Buck Martinez, for some unexplained reason, the runner was called out :icon_conf

another bad call in a big game.:103631605

For those of you who think Japan has changed since WWII, I urge you to drink some more. Nothing has actually changed there in the hearts and minds of your average Japanese person. The vast majority are historically ignorant and those that that do have some idea of their governments actions 70 years ago prefer to pretend that nothing happened. Thus, politicians in Japan have free reign to reinterpret history, demean non-Japanese people, scapegoat foreign residents, and generally do everything possible to make it difficult for foreign professionals and foreign businesses to have any influence or impact on Japan.

It was still an awesome game, good for USA :)

I was under the impression the pitcher had to throw the ball back to the base in question , was that why the ump called him safe the first time?

ESPN gave no explanation.

I still think the rule states the pitcher must be on the rubber with the ball than, appeal the play, I know that use to be a rule.

Oh please father. I'd eat you up and spit you out in a debate. Go buy yourself a hdtv flat panel television and tell me how hearing the basketball bounce on the floor makes you win bets.

Talk about tarnishing a sporting event, how the hell do you over rule a play that? So Buck says probably to get help from the homeplate umpire. Base ump is thinking well I made the call but let's talk it over to make sure. Correct call gets reversed by homeplate ump, what a joke!!:pucking: :pucking: :pucking:
