I played high school golf. In a regional tournament one of the opposing players didn't putt out on hole 8. He had about 2" left, and it was a gimme, but he didn't putt it out. Nobody in my group, including myself said anything. When all players came into the clubhouse the scores were tallied. My school had lost by 1 stroke. Dejected my friend and I were talking about the round and I mentioned the dude not putting out. My friend said "go tell coach!" I did and to my surprise his face wasn't excited. He reluctantly brought it up to the director, and he confirmed it with the player. The other team went from celebrating to confusion. There was a playoff to determine the winner and in the playoff my school won. My coach didn't celebrate. He was emberrassed. My team mates found it hard to celebrate also. Because we brought up rules when it was convenient was like cheating, and in hindsight, I wish I hadn't said anything. Buck should feel the same way about Americas victory yesterday.
