By JASON COLE

<!-- begin body-content --> The Dolphins completed a trade with Minnesota for quarterback Daunte Culpepper on Tuesday after talks with free agent quarterback Drew Brees hit a standstill.
A source close to Culpepper confirmed that Culpepper was on his way to South Florida from Orlando to meet with the team. Culpepper is also expected to be examined by team physicians to check out his surgically repaired right knee.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that the trade is for a second-round pick in the April draft.

I would rather have Brees, but I certainly will take Culpepper. Chambers has to be licking his chops as we know Dante can throw the deep ball. Brees wants 10 million per year which I think is too much considering his injured shoulder so the Dolphins dd the right thing in trading for Culpepper.

It looks like this team will be one of the favs in the division assuming Dante plays injury free. Look for them to go 10-6 or somewhere abouts.

Culpepper's knee is blown to bits. Plus he didn't exactly tear it up last year in Minnesota. Even if he starts the season I don't see his knee being 100%. While the price was right in trading for him he isn't going to be the lone savior of this team.

You can't argue with only giving up a 2nd rounder for him. Dolphins have had a solid starter in years

Huard, Fiedler, Lucas, Greise, Feeley, Rosenfels and Frerotte...

DM- I agreehes not a savior, but he has decent weapons, and a nice D, plus Saban is doing all the right things...first time in years Dolphins look like they are really committed to winning

You can have him. He can't read NFL defenses. He does not have a Randy Moss to wind up and throw it as far as he can and let Moss go get it. Coming off major knee surgery so he will be reluctant to run it. The only thing he is good at. Plenty of water in Fla for his sex cruise parties. Its all good.

no Moss, but he does have Chambers and McMichael. Hopefully the Dolphin D can give him some protection.

That's HUGE news for anybody who knows Nick Saban. This guy comes out of LSU and coaches his ass off in the Dolphins first season, if you think back, the Dolphins were lousy until the last half of the season. He know's how to coach. The Dolphins are looking mighty fine. Ronnie Brown at RB, D.Culpepper at QB Chambers at WR McMichaels at TE. Holy shit. I might have to throw a few bucks down on them. Now only if they can get some above average cornerbacks.

Ricky f'n Williams showed promise 2nd half of the season as well. Can you imagine how it would be if Ronnie Brown and a practiced, healthy, straight edged R.Williams in the backfield the whole season amount to? To many plays to call, to many options. Marty Booker still is average. Is David Boston still in the league? lol man oh man

Don't rule out TO coming down here. I know of someone who has spoken to him personally and TO has recently said that he prefers to be down here in Miami as long as they add a QB. Well looks like they added a QB. This offense would be pretty dynamic if TO got here. :103631605

You can have Culpepper. He can't read a defense and is not very smart at all. It's funny because it was about 3 or 4 years ago, a guy I golf with was on an airplane ride with an NFL assistant coach (and I want ot say it was a Miami Dolphin) who was talking about how dumb Culpepper was. Said the Viking's would never win with him at QB because he can't read defenses. After I heard it, the more I watched him the worse he got. Moss and a good offense line helped make him look better. Last year he looked clueless and was absolutely horrible, check his stats before the injury. Glad to be rid of him. The Vikes would have cut him in a week anyhow. Getting a second round pick is a bonus. Miami fans are going to have to let me know after next season which of the following is the smallest, his hands, his dick or his mind. Maybe he can plan the boat cruise on South Beach for the team!

As a Miami fan I have mixed feelings. Signing Dante is probably an upgrade to what they have but he is coming off a very serious injury for one and two he is on the downside of his career. Not to mention he was never a top QB in the league in my mind and he definitely is not one now. I dont think he can lead any team much less the Dolphins to a Super Bowl. He is not the answer IMO.
That being said the Dolphins only gave up a 2nd rounder for him. I dont know if he is worth the cash they will pay him but it did not take much to get him.
