i saw this black guy in the airport in chicago. he had a t-shirt on that said "i love my people" and it had a red & green africa continent in the background.

i think its great that he loves his people. does the t-shirt imply that he does not love people that are not "his people"? i dont know...guess it depends. probably more likely just a guy taking pride in his race and heritage than a guy being a racist.

it made me wonder though...what if a white guy wore a t-shirt that said "i love my people" and it had a map of europe in the background? would he be looked at in the same way? maybe but probably not. and, if it were a white guy with the state of mississippi in the background, you can be sure he'd be labeled a racist.

anyway...just some deep thoughts from blue edwards.

blue , are you black ?

if you are blue edwards , i guess so..

i'm white. i might have walked up to guy and asked him " do you love my people " ?

or " do you even like my people " ?

but i dont really claim the entire white population as " my people " .

i have a few black friends and we talk about race all the time.

i also have dozens of friends in jamaica . all they talk about is respect.

I think it would be seen much differently if it was a white person with the shirt on.

(Boy-calm around here today, can't believe this thread hasn't been trashed).

I'd probably have a few thoughts running through my mind if I saw that shirt but would likely not say anything, which I assume would be the most common reaction.

If the guy was Italian looking and he had I Love My People on the front and a picture of Italy on the back, I probably wouldn't think twice.

Or if he was smokling a big doobie and listening to Bob Marley with his I Love my People and I picture of Jamaica on his back, I'd also probably just smile (and I'd also figure he was a customer service rep at The Greek if I had trouble understanding him).

Too me it's probably more about stereotypes than racism.

Screw the airport, it you want to talk proud of their people, nobody can top the Hispanics.

They are damn proud of who they are & they aren't afraid to let let it be known. Good for them.

some peope live for dumb

pride: # noun: a feeling of self-respect and personal worth
# noun: satisfaction with your (or another's) achievements

Racial pride is oxymoron used by those who are divisive and ignorant.
How can one feel self-respect for, personal worth for, and satisfication with an achievement for something in which they had absoulutely nothing to do with?:icon_conf

I always figured Blue Edwards wasn't Blue Edwards but I did figure Blue Edwards was black for some reason....

Sherman was the other one I felt was black for some reason. No bad reasons....just their take on things.

Do we not have even two black posters at this site? Am I the only one? tulsa

No Rob, I saw that....

I'm not really black either, but you guys are all making me wish I was so that I could help diversify this site! tulsa

Also, one day Blue came on here talking about his call on the Dan Patrick show and I happened to have heard his call... The caller (Blue) sounded like someone that has to put on sunscreen.
