Before analyzing some numbers, i read about 30 articles from US, Japan and Korea but this matchup is once again a tossup. I have seen people pounding on Japan from the first match. A lot of people put more money on japan in the second match. Now, checking out the line movement so far, more money is going toward to japan but still better price (-140) than the initial line (-160).

I expect the line to be around -150 or if some want to put more on japan, it will be close to -170 or -180 right before the game time.

If there is anyone who is so desperate and want some money back from yesterday loss, NEVER put money on japan today. Unless japan is priced at -110, i will never put any money on japan. Some said that japan is due for a win and they cannot lose to an inferior team... Look at the result so far. Losing two in a row does tell us something about the mechanics of koreans and their passion on this game.

To tell you the truth, i made huge on WBC and predicted more than 90% right (mostly on asian matches involving japan and korea. One loss came from other pool's match...ouch). However, this game is not something we should wager a lot.

Even the total line is a bit too small. It came out at 7.5 and now it is 6.5. Seo and Uehara can pitch well but both can give runs depending on the team they face. I will give a bit of edge toward the korean pitcher (starting and also relief pitchers).

Besides, i rate an emotional edge to koreans. It is said that koreans are more nervous meeting japanese third time in a row but concern of japanese of losing another game to Korea is more than a nightmare (they said it is simply unthinkable). Just imagine what would happen to japanese if they lose. If this game goes scoreless for the first 3 to 4 innings. I expect to see some errors from japanese defense and sloppy offense as well.

So i will put some coins (not a lot, considering the hightened level of feelings of two teams) on Korea ML and if any + runline is available, i will put more on Korea RL. I have no idea on the total, it can go really ugly or it can be another close matchup but i feel like korean will win convincingly by the score of 4-1 or 6-2.

Regardless of the outcome, enjoy this match. I am sure this will be the highlight of WBC. :toast:

perhaps a relevant and contributing factor to your analysis...

I agree with your analysis...

From what I know, the Korean team is still angered by Ichiro's comments..

Ichiro's comments only further fueled the Koreans' hatred for the Japanese. This hated comes from many years of colonization. For those that may are not familiar with history, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Japan</st1:country-region> colonized <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Korea</st1:place></st1:country-region> for approximately 50 years. Especially during WW2, the Japanese military abducted Korean women to use as prostitutes in the Japanese military bases, conducted numerous unethical medical researches on the Koreans and used young Korean men as kamikaze pilots. (I am a PHD student in Asian history and I have evidence to prove this). And, the Japanese government still refuses to acknowledge any of their wrong doings.

To many Koreans, this is no longer a baseball game. This game involves more than just national pride; it has evolved into a way to vent their frustration from approximately 50 years of colonization.

The Korean team did well in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Japan</st1:country-region> during the first game, a game that was held in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Japan</st1:country-region></st1:place>'s premier stadium with 30,000+ Japanese fans. The 2nd game, held in southern <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State>, featured about approximately 25,000+ screaming Korean fans cheering for their team. I expect just as many Koreans to attend tonight's game, if not more. This game might as well be held in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Korea</st1:country-region></st1:place> with so many the Koreans attending. The whole nation of <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Korea</st1:place></st1:country-region> views this game as a way to vent their frustration against the Japanese colonization. (oh, one more useless fact: <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Korea</st1:place></st1:country-region> is spelled with a K, instead of C. Back in 1800’s, many European countries called the country Corea but the Japanese government didn’t want “Corea” to be introduced before <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region> in an international competition. So, the Japanese government forced the change in spelling to <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Korea</st1:place></st1:country-region>.)

So, after a cultural and historical babble, I really can't expect any let-downs or complacency from the Korean team. With the amount of discipline Koreans emphasize, I am expecting same results as games 1 and 2.

I'm putting 3 units on <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Korea</st1:place></st1:country-region> +1.5 and 1.5 units on Korea ML +159.

good luck everyone.. I'm off to watch the game in person.
