With the exception of family and loved ones of those playing, and an even smaller number who bet the games, the Women’s NCAA basketball tourney generates as much interest as lawn bowling and croquet. It also may be equally exciting.

I believe that womens hoops is getting better and better as time goes by. Just my humble opinion, but this game is not as slow as it once was. Its classified as college basketball and I would much rather watch this than and NBA.

Did you see the Tennessee girl throw down a tomahawk dunk today? Girls are more fundamentally sound and have better basketball iq then a lot of mens teams. I am an avid fan of WNCAA. John Wooden agrees also.

Diana Taurasi was the most entertaining college player since Scott Skiles or Magic Johnson.

BTW,

You could count on 1 hand the number of rx memebers who could crack the starting lineup on a top womens team.

You could count on one hand how many Boys State High School basketbll teams the NCAA women could beat.

In preparing for the 2006 olympics the US womens Hockey team played a Boys high scoool team from warroad Minnesota and lost the game.

I say the WNBA will be done within the next 5 years owners losing money every year on it.

Winky, stay out of Denver. Rumor has it that the lesbo nation is already rallying for your head downtown.

Wrong,

Lady Tarheels beat more than 50% of highschool boy teams in America.

The true sexists are the proponents of Title 9 that create these silly women's tourneys and tries to impose them on a largely un-caring viewing public(see ratings). True equal rights is one basketball team at a college and best 15 players make team. Why is sexual segregration(with seperate gender teams) seen as progress yet everybody(unless insane)agrees that racial segregation is terrible?
Best 12 or 15 humans(that you can get) play and everybody else can still play but on a club or intramural basis which is a lot of fun and is more what true sport is about anyway.

Let them have there basketball and Hockey but dont waste putting it on TV and force us to watch it gets terrible ratings.

Id rather watch boys high school basketball state tourneys from different states then this womens garbage this time of the year some great state tourneys going on.

I agree with Rail about women's hoops. The women's game on every level is more entertaining & fundamentally sound compared to thier counterparts. The ladies play basketball the way it should be, a team sport!

The ratings have been growing every year for the last # of years in the college & pro ranks. The ratings aren't going to knock you off your feet but if you had any clue, you would know they are on an upswing. So your theory that no one wants to watch it is wrong.

I have been watcing women's hoops since before I ever started betting & I have loved it from the get go. I don't need to place a bet on it to watch it.

Candace Parker will take this game to a new level. Most people think women's basketball can't be played over the rim but the new breed of athletes is shattering that thought process.

The WNBA will not fold in the next 5 years. The league is starting to build quality momentum & has potential crossover star appeal with players like Taurasi, Bird, Hammon, etc... & just wait until some of these future stars come into the game like Parker, the Paris twins from OU, Wiggins from Stanford, etc...

Last I check no one MAKES you watch anything. If it bothers you that much turn the channel.

A girl dunking a ball is not going to make me tune. I just can't get into it.

Most boys state championship calibre teams would beat the elite college women's teams. Strength/rebounding would be a total mismatch inside.

Bullshit

The women athletes of today are getting bigger & stronger every year. I'd like to see them push people like C. Paris or T. Humphries or Larkins around.

I wish that someone in the know would step up and disclose just how much Womens Basketball has cost the networks over the last 15 years. I don't know of anything else that has been given so much time and money to get established without seeing any light at the end of the tunnel. This is like pol.- correctness out of control! Isn't it okay that it is not as popular as mens hoops? Let it be enjoyed by those that follow, as stated earlier in thread, the family and friends of players and students and alums that would probably rather pay a few bucks to watch their teams live vs watching at home. Sorry but just no viewership to justify the airtime it occupies.

It's physiology bro. Men have an abundance of muscle mass in comparison to women. It's not really debatable. You really think a Dwight Howard his senior high school season wouldn;t absolutely dominate the women's game under the basket?
