Miami leading 108-100 over the knicks, and the over under is 210.......after NY had scored, miami inbounds with 24.4 seconds left....NY doesnt try to foul....Jason Williams simply standing there dribbling the ball out, no defense on him.....all of a sudden with 5 seconds left, he passes all the way across court to Antoine Walker who fires in a 3 pointer with 3 seconds left....there was no reason to shoot...

That seemed very questionable, at best......

What was the point of that?

They had to shoot because of the shot clock....it would have been a turnover if they did not...this happens all the time.

Turnover? Who cares, there would be 1 second left on the clock and the Knicks had no chance to tie the game. Williams was running out the clock.

The most amazing part was that he hit the shot. That was just horrendously bad luck for the people that had the under.

Spread you sure about that?? Heres from NBA.com
(0:00) [NYK] Team Rebound
(0:01) [NYK] Robinson Jump Shot: Missed
(0:01) [MIA 111-100] Walker Jump Shot: Made (8 PTS)
(0:24) [NYK 100-108] Francis Driving Layup: Made (9 PTS)
(0:30) [NYK] Curry Rebound (Off:3 Def:1)
(0:31) [MIA] Williams Jump Shot: Missed

According to this, even if he would have let the shot clock run out, he would have given the Knicks a fraction of a second. Im sure NY didnt have a nine point play in their arsenal.

Because Walker is the most selfish stats oriented player in the entire NBA. He would rather start and average 25 points a game for a 20 win team, than be a 6th man scoring 12 points a game for an NBA championship team.

I agree, but this happens all the time....sometimes teams will just hold the ball and allow the turnover....other times, they will shoot so they do not commit the turnover....happens all the time.....sucks that some people lost on that shot.....but that is just a part of the game...there was nothing funny to that at all.

Am I sure about what?

I am not saying that the Knicks could have tied the game, however like I just wrote in my previous post...this happens all of the time. Somtimes teams will just hold the ball and allow for the turnover, other times they will shoot so that they do not commit the turnover.

I agree Spread. It does happen all the time.

I just find it mind boggling that a team running out the clock, game over, and this dude who is more off on his shot from 3 point land than anyone else in the league, nails it with no time left.

Wait until the playoffs when the Heat will need his 3 to tie or win and watch what row that ball lands in.

If he doesn't shoot there would have been less than a second left and Knicks could have hit a bucket and ruined my Heat-6.5 bet. So way to go Walker! He was risking his FG % on such a long shot, though.
Sorry under guys as I feel your pain(or have felt it many times in the past!).

HAHA!

I hate 'Toine also, however you is having his best season this year, in terms of shooting %'s. He just gets such a bad rap because at times he shoots bad shots and some of his misses are pathetic. But all in all, he is having his best season, % wise.

I was commenting on when you said he had to shoot because it would have been a turnover. But as you said it happens. It would have sucked if I had the under

well i realize that teams often shoot at the end to avoid the turnover, however in this instance, there was a .4 second difference, if anything, u shoot with 1-2 seconds left, so that the clock runs out while ball is in the air....he shot with like 5 seconds left, and why did Williams pass it cross court to him like that? very weird....if anything, usually the player like Williams, would just fire it up from that spot, as the clock expires, that is what was weird to me.....and i had miami small, so it didnt effect me, but i noticed the over hit on it....

just still seems a little odd...

I remember going against the Spurs one-time in the same exact situation except it was the spread and not the total. My team was covering by 2.5 points I was getting 12.5 so the game was in hand. There was about a 1 second difference between the shot clock and the end of the game. Tim Duncan is about 29 feet from the basket and he throws the ball at the hoop, nothing but net!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The shot clock and game clock were about .3 seconds off. It would of been a turnover if he didnt shoot. Shit, it happens, yeah, but damn. Although Toine has made over 100 3 pointers this year, if I had to pick someone to shoot that shot besides Mourning and Shaq Id probably pick Toine. Fucker either air mails it, or swishes it.

Game was on a nice pace to stay under. Both teams scored over 30 in the 4th quarter, after neither did it any any quarter previously, like 24 points scored in final 2 mins, and then that Walker shot to cap it off.

I hope Sam Cassell abducts his ass.
