The word is they are going to hire Greg McDermott. I am not impressed. We have to be in a rush to hire him? I was all excited because the word was they were going after Rob Jeter and he sounded great. I know McDermott's been OK at UNI but I think their are better candidates out there.

Think his stock has dropped a tad in the past year or so, and agree, better options available.

Would still love to see KNIGHT come to Iowa or Iowa State........expecially Iowa, where it would be a great way to rub it in the Hoosiers faces after they hire Stevie boy.

He would have been perfect. I wouldn't have minded seeing his kid there. No way Knight will leave Texas Tech now. He will retire there. There has been talk all year of McDermott to Iowa if Stevie Wonder Boy leaves but I really don't think they would have taken him. I'm really bummed ISU settled for him.

Geez, was just thinking.

The NORTHERN IOWA job may be more lucrative and appealing these days than the IOWA STATE job.

The MVC is on the rise!

What will Dr.Tom's team be like next year at Drake?......don't get a chance to follow them closely down here since they have been so pathetic.

LOL. I'm afraid for your sake you are right Viking. No way he's the best candidate Indiana can get. This is setting up for years of mediocrity at both ISU and Iowa.

No kidding!!!

Holy Cow,...........none of the four teams from the state of Iowa next year will be favored to make the Big Dance.

How freaking sad is that!?

Iowa-- .500
Iowa State-- .500
Northern Iowa-- .475
Drake-- .400

ALL SECOND DIVISION TEAMS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CONFERENCES.

Iowa State couldn't go .500 next year with John Wooden coaching them. I was at least hoping we could get a coach to energize the fans. The ISU message board is about 95% against McDermott right now. I hate to be negative before he even gets here but this is starting out bad for him. Plus the people that know him say he's always been a big Hawkeye fan.

Fish-Steve is falling off the radar. Mark Cuban has 4 million behind Randy Wittman, Billy Gillispie is also looking very very good, Turgeon as well. I would be shocked if Greenspan hires Alford.

Agree with Cy, I think they (Pollard and Gary Thompson) rushed into this one. McDermott will be okay, but not the man I was hoping they would choose.

Alford is to meet with Missouri and not Indiana...local word coming out of Iowa City.

On an unrelated note....Cyclone Larry just hit NE Australia!

Yep, ESPN is breaking the story right now that IU is not interested in Alford.

Upon further review, I am now behind McDermott 100%. Hell, he's a farm boy from Iowa, he's got to be good. The highs and lows of these coaching fires and hires are too much for me. Then when I turn on the news tonight, they say Eddie Munster is interviewing at Missouri. I know a lot of the Hawkeyes are not exactly thrilled with Alford but does that piss you off to see him taking a "step up" to Missouri? He is such a dick. Indiana turns his back on him and he knows Iowa lost about it's whole team so he turns to Missouri. And they said on the news that he initiated contact.
