For cocktail waitresses, do you have to work at the shitty places then work your way up like the dealers?

Or, if you have experiece, are attractive, and young, will there be plenty to choose from?

I would guess 88.4% of it has to do with how good looking you are. A llittle bar experience probably helps as well. Easy money for those little sluts to go out there and serve us drinks.

If you're hot you'll get a good gig. Not the best, but a good one. If you notice some of the old school places have some old bags running around thanks to the union. But the locals places are all pretty much loaded with some serious talent because they don't have the legacy of long-term employees that can't be let go when they get past their prime. Caesars usually is the worst at this, but as mentioned the Stardust is pretty terrible too. Grandma provides good service with the drinks, but something about a 55 year old in a revealing outfit that just isn't right.

I think the bear suit alone should get you at a halfway decent casino....I mean I'd pay a little extra to have my drinks brought to me by a guy in a bear suit.

Having dated more than my fair share of LV cocktail waitresses and having many others as friends, can answer this question.

At many places it comes down to that old saying of "who you know in the business".

Some establishments have very few openings, as they have had the same waitresses for years and years........STARDUST and HARRAHS as examples.

Many of the newer properties, such as the PALMS for example, take "material looks" way over experience in evaluating their job applicants........as one can plainly see by visiting this casino.

To answer your question, it is very difficult to land a very good waitress job without great looks and/or who one knows.

The "who one knows" is by far the fastest and most efficient way to a decent job.

The great thing about Vegas in the past 10 years is the tremendous influx of new casinos, this has been great for wannabe new cocktail servers that have halfway decent looks.

Very well paying job!

Dante, and Fish, yup, applying next week. Just got back from the seamstress, and my skirt looks GREAT!

My wife and I have talked about moving out for 6 months. Putting our stuff here in storage, and taking the chance. I know she could make some coins being a waitress. But she was a bartender, and hated it for the most part, only because she worked in a Applebee's in Augusta, GA. Where tips werent all that great, so that had something to do with it.

I was wondering why Harrahs had a large % of older waitresses.

Come on Fish, tell it like it is. Who you know might matter for some jobs, but cocktails and anything service related is controlled by the union. These hot chicks could blow the President of the property twice weekly and still not get any better shot at a job. The Culinary Union here and their brethren completely control these slots and they are like the teachers union, its all about how long you have been around.

No point in being the greatest cocktailer ever in this town 95% of the time. The vast majority are going to tip what they are going to tip whether you are a "10" or a "-3". The amount you'll get is driven almost exclusively by how high a roller the casino you work for gets. If you work at Golden Gate and are the greatest cocktailer in history you'll still take home about 20% of what a girl at the Bellagio does. Looks is important for day one, but beyond that you are just a priority number.

Actually, man, you should be a casino host---ask your guy at Hilton how he broke into that.

Hey I resent that. Some of those grandmas are good friends of mine and represent a time fast fading away, barely remembered now and soon to be forgotten.
